Nice track, although I was full by about 2:41.. it lathered, rinsed, and then just repeated for the rest it seemed. Nice sound, however. /.j --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, quazar <quazarproductions@p...> wrote: > deep and dark and really good, I think > cheers > Q > > op 23-06-2003 14:20 schreef erik_magrini@B... op > erik_magrini@B...: > > If anyone's interested, got a new tune I just posted: > > http://rEalm.iuma.com "Obelisk" > > Love to hear any thoughts you might have! > > rEalm > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > Yahoo! Thanks man, it was definitely meant to be dark. Hehe, I love the record label game, they tell me my tunes need to be harder and darker, so I do this one, and now they say it's too hard and dark. Doh! That's it, definitely time to sell the studio and buy an acoustic guitar... rEalm A little on the darkside, but it is COOL : } [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

rEalm, "Obelisk" rocks, dude. Was that *all* done on the XL-7? I'm thinking of buying this unit, and if "Obelisk" was completely done on the Emu, well - I'm sold. Couple questions: -Can volumes be automated on the XL-7? Furthermore, what are all the automatable features on the command station? - I notice some vocal patches on the tune - Is there any formant type processing of any patches? - I noticed in one of the EMU magazine ads, Rza (I think) is carrying his MP7 around like it's a portable device. I guess I could go to the emu site to find this out, but this thing doesn't have battery slots does it? Sure would be cool to take this thing on road trips... Nice tunage, ~Mark

"Obelisk" rocks, dude. Was that *all* done on the XL-7? I'm thinking of buying this unit, and if "Obelisk" was completely done on the Emu, well - I'm sold. >>>Sorry, but I don't think anything in that song is from the XL-7 actually (mostly Virus KC) :( I did use it as a controller to manipulate Kontakt though, it worked great for that. If you want to hear a song that's entirely XL-7, check out "Frozen Clouds" which (aside from the guitar) is all XL-7, or "Composite Blue" which is 100% XL-7 too. <<< Couple questions: -Can volumes be automated on the XL-7? Furthermore, what are all the automatable features on the command station? >>>Yep, all of the knob movements can be recorded, as can Track Mutes in Song mode. Otherwise all of the standard MIDI CC's can be recorded. << - I notice some vocal patches on the tune - Is there any formant type processing of any patches? >>>LOL, dude you have no idea! :) (not meant in bad way). The XL-7 has quite a few formant filters that are great for adding vocally sounds to your music. There's a few Presets with vocal samples as the base waveforms, but most are choir sustained type sounds. "Composite Blue" uses this cool female voice thingy too, straight from the XL-7. << - I noticed in one of the EMU magazine ads, Rza (I think) is carrying his MP7 around like it's a portable device. I guess I could go to the emu site to find this out, but this thing doesn't have battery slots does it? Sure would be cool to take this thing on road trips... >>>No battery slots, sorry. I take mine to a local park all the time though (they have power outlets in the gazebos) and it is VERY nice being able to write music while enjoying the beautiful weather. <<< rEalm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Well, both tunes (Frozen Clouds & Composite Blue) are totally fly, man. Nice sounds coming out of the command station. I wasn't too thrilled with the slightly tinny reverb sound on Composite - maybe it was the patch - but the nice spacious reverbs on Frozen Clouds renewed my confidence in this device. I remember some discussion bout eq - can one adjust the eq individually for each patch? Cant wait to get me one these bad boys (XL-7 that is!) ~Mark Check out megagrooves - http://www.megagrooves.com

Glad you liked it. Going to be changing a few things actually, had a label express interest if I was to make some minor changes, so I'll be revisiting this one this weekend. As for Influx1, hehe, we're actually working on something right now. Though I should say he's a bit of a slacker, LOL :) rEalm (you can tell him I said that :) ) Hook up with influx and colab'...you'll be picked up soon, trust that! sorry for this sort of non xl inquiry, but rEalm, just curious how you first got 'people' to hear your music, and eventually a label deal. i like your tunes (the 2 i've heard). there are such crap out there...same old euro trance especially, with silly 4 bar riffs over and over and over, no musical development, no depth, no imagination, that are on record labels, and then there's those tunes that are the same drum loop for 6 minutes, and an occasional vocal sample here and there...i'm wondering how in the hell they ever did. in my opinion your tunes easily surpass that euro popular boramma, and i think your stuff could easily replace that shit, but is it just luck? or is it people you know? cuz i have heard lots of good music my 'amateurs' that could easily replace that stuff realeased by labels...what's the deal? friends and strangers alike, never guess that i am behind tunes that i coyly have them listen to. i know my productions are not nearly 'professionla' yet, but my musical interpretation from emotion is very nice they say. would love to have y'all take a listen in near future...i make music for the love of it, but those that get a listen easily think my tunes are from 'legit' releases by labels...funny i guess. but yeah, how did you get your 'start'???
