Command Stations Revised....

Command Stations Revised....

2003-06-19 by lostusomewhere2003

Well, with everyone so keyed up about discontinued products...i ask,
what's the big deal? I was worried as well, after buying the yellow
screamer, as some bloke at GC told me they were discontinued soon
thereafter. But, given the product support still being strong, i
really don't care about too much else. And my initial worries are all
but gone. We should just enjoy making music with it, as it is really
a tool. Most tools come and go, that's the nature of the industry.
How long it exist in your arsenal is individual. As for the new PX-
7, it is the new paint, minor revision of labeling--on the top side
of the 'start' , 'stop', 'record', and 'tap' buttons. With X-mix,
Loop, Replace, Copy, and new rom chip. It's anyones guess whether or
not there will a 'new' XL-7 with revisions as well. It really doesn't
matter to me that mine is yellow, but it will be either a sky blue
metallic or laminated with a super thin carbon fibre sheet(absolutely
WICKED!), in the future. I say, don't worry about future gear. Enjoy
using what you got. I don't have much, but i love the act of using
what i DO have, to make music, no matter how pissy some of my gear
can get. Don't see myself 'outgrowing' my yellow beast for some time.
Peace out you lot.

You make good points. I love buying gear that is just (or soon-to-be)
discontinued. Not only do you get the product at the best price in
its life cycle, you get the latest version of the OS, the most user
support, the most free patches, and the most free assistance you
could want.

I actually bought the Proteus 2000 when it first came out, and
promptly returned it due to a by-design issue which made it
completely useless for me. Fortunately for Emu, they changed their
design in a future free OS release, but I had already purchased
something else by that time.

In the case of the XL-7, they just released a free new OS with cool
new features. I couldn't be more pleased. While initially I bought
the thing mainly due to its low price, I'm finding I enjoy it much
more than I expected I would.

oh, sorry, the press release pic that was on harmony central(same
shot for previous Command Stations)...not the small one, just pull it
up as to original large size...and you can see the new labeling is
all there. Totally minor stuff. All to be confirmed upon 'physical'
inspection:-) Silver looks cool, but i have my faves. I'm guessing
there could be an XL-7 version 2? With revised graphics, etc...Oh
well, who knows right. Now back to the beats...Cheers.

PX ROM

2003-06-21 by robotchas

I know the PX is supposed to include a bunch of new acoustic drum
samples, but I hope it also incorporates kits from the neglected drum
machines, namely the DMX, SynDrum, SP-1200, Linn, etc...32MB should
be plenty of room, drum samples don't need much space!
