is the MP7 also discontinued

Saying that a product has been discontinued is a common tactic in these
stores, when what you want is out of stock and they would rather sell
you something else (usually higher margin).
I'll believe it when I hear it from Emu.

Has there even been an official announcement from E-mu that the XL-7
is being discontinued? I doubt it. They could have just sold a
bunch at a really low cost to reduce some extra inventory. Also, if
it is indeed discontinued, it would be just because of the color.
The new PK-7 is the exact same unit with a different color and a
different rom chip. I'm sure we'll even see a couple more "new"
command stations come out with more colors and rom chips. The yellow
was never very popular and alot of people who actually wanted the xl-
1 soundset ended up getting an MP-7 and an xl lead chip just to avoid
having to look at that yellow all the time. So a discontinued XL-7
would have nothing to do with a new product coming out and it
certainly doens't have anything to do with the XL-7 being a bad or
obsolete product. It's just the color. I'd say that the MP-7 won't
be blown out like that but who knows.

Hey, I like the color. I'd prefer black/charcoal with yellow
legending, or maybe blue, but I may do the rEalm thing at some point
and get my own custom panel done. I like yellow better than purple
(never liked that color) or even gray (too plain). Goes with the rest
of my gear too.

If the MP7 was discontinued it would drive up the price of the product
- unless emu comes out with something better at the same price point.
Doesn't matter to me - I am happy with my MP7.
