Fixing USB problems

Hello. I read a post where someone was having problems with Windows XP seeing their XL-7. Here's an idea to try. I had a similar problem with Windows XP 'seeing' one of my MIDI interfaces. The solution was to sort of nudge Windows XP to look at the USB ports again. Here's what to do: Right click on My Computer and select Properties Click on the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers tree. Double click on any subtopic that is a Hub or Host Controller. Click on either the "Power" or "Advanced" tab (depending on which type of device you clicked) Click the Refresh button. Repeat this for every item in the list. What you are doing is forcing Windows XP to recheck the USB bus for whatever devices are connected. In the case of my MIDI interface, it solved the problem. Unfortunately, I needed to do this every time I rebooted the computer. Note, this problem is a fault of either Windows XP or the motherboard you are using (in my case, Abit) -- not Emu. -Brian
