SysEx question

SysEx question

2003-05-25 by noidealism

i haven't gotten any reply to previous posts, but i will continue
trying. i have mp7 (got it last week) and i use cubase and cakewalk
for sysex backup. it won't send data into these programs. a midi
light comes on (on the mp7) but nothing is sent. i have the
audity2000 synth and sysex works fine, so i know it's not my midi
interface or programs that are the problem. i'm stumped. i have
taken the machine back to the store, exchanged it, and the same
problem exists with the new one. i am looking for any suggestions on
this matter. cheers to anyone who replies

is there a way to have your programs retrieve the info, instead of dumping it
all at once? i dont own a command station yet, but with usb, you should be
able to pop open a program, and get into your xl7 from the computer. then you
could probably back up everything you want. do the command stations not take
memory cards? you could jsut back up to smf, and then load that onto your
computer just for extra safe keeping

Is the MP7 connected bi-directionnaly to the computer, i.e. MIDI In
AND Out? Does E-Loader works?

Alternatively, you could monitor the datas sent and received with the
excellent MIDIOX tool (http://www.midiox.com), compare with the Audity
and see if something is wrong.

Hope this helps.

err i dont know if this is what you mean ...but if you are asking if
midi messages are sent out of your xl and if midi can be recv by the
xl then the answer is yes. I have not tried it with the new os.

i will let you know how i did this on the old os
go to midi button
dail to systex send page
then press enter to send data

e loader works...yes
check you midi settings in the pattern edit ..
you can assingn each midi ch to int, ext, both or none
some one correct me here if i am wrong but in order to see midi info
on e-loader you ahve to ahve a setting of ext or both

peace

well, i do have it connected bidirectionally and E-Loader does work
through USB, *but not through midi*. i will try using MIDIOX tool to
see what happens. but hey, i connected the mp7 (midi out) to the
audity (midi in) and sent sysex data= the result was that the midi
LED on both machines lit up until data was completely sent. so
basically i am confused. are there different types of midi cables?

Make sure Cubase and Cakewalk are set to not filter out sysex. I know
Cubase comes this way by default, if you tell me what version it is (VST
or SX) I can tell you how to change this.
