Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

First, please excuse me if I sound like a neophyte, but I've only had 
my XL-7 less than 1 week. I'm interested in using it for percussion 
and texture backing for a small band. I've written a couple of "song 
mode" sequences and was looking for a way to start the playback of a 
song mode sequence via a footswitch control (my hands are busy 
playing bass). I searched the manual but couldn't find a way to do 
this. It would be very handy to have a footswitch (or even midi note 
on) control of song/pattern play, stop, and increment for live 
situations. Also, I read J. Burger's response about Scott's comments 
on the new OS (Re: pardon - is this the new os they promised ?). Do 
you really lose sequences and sounds during the update?? That could 
be a huge caveat for someone with a couple hours worth of sequencing 
on board! Also, I'd love to hear from any of you doing 
ambient/texture work with the XL-7. Looking to exchange hints and 
tips. Thanks for comments in advance.
