instruments/audity 200 presets/sound driver??

instruments/audity 200 presets/sound driver??

2003-05-09 by Erika

Is there anyway to get an empty set of insturments without having to
copy one and save it? That gets really old.

Is there a way to get the Audit2000 patches on the XL7? There should
be an addon chip or something you can buy or download. Speaking of
which is it possible to transer patches (instruments) in and out of
the XL7?

Also I never got a CD with my XL7, is there a sfotware patch editor?
and what is "Sound Driver" a universal patch editor?

Thanks.. so much time and time again..

Let me send you the one I have.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to this task yet. I'm hoping to get this
done this weekend - I have all the tools now, except the pesky VBrun300.dll
file I need to install Dumpster.

Sound Diver is a librarian/patch editor. It doesn't work with the xx-7s.
Midiquest 8/9 is supposed to, according to their tech support. Midiquest 8
(the only one I've seen) is uglier, clunkier, but more functional and more
stable than Sound Diver, which I have and don't use.

Interesting, do you work for EMU? In any case what's your project?

What would be a really cool addition of the OS is to make an effects
mixer similar to the volume/master mixer. I'd be great for when you
get your pattern done to go back and on the fly add and remove
effects simply by turning the knob for the channel (chorus, reverb
ect..) Rather than have to go all the way back into patch edit and
then turn it up and down from there.

>Interesting, do you work for EMU?

Nope. Someone on this list uploaded the Audity presets, and I'm going to
convert them to the xl-7.

For half of them, all this requires is changing two bytes or so in each
patch. This other half will be somewhat more complicated, but still pretty
easy in excel.

BTW emu guys - why does the patch dump send the odd packets first and then
the even ones?

That's really cool. I was thinking it's such a shame you couldn't be
able to transfer data back and forth between all the same family of
modules and ROMs.. You have to love EMU for allt he versitility..
They are like the swiss army knives of synths..

In theory, the planet phatt and orbit modules are also convertible. However, these would take a great deal more work - while the samples are the same, the sound engine parameters aren't.

I'm going to see how the Audity goes, and then maybe tackle them. It would be quite a bit of work.

I'm still in debate over buying the Orbit vs the ROMs. So the preset
of the Audity are the patches? Arps? Songs? I'm really intrerested
because it expands my XL7, and I almost bought that and the XL1 not
knowing I already had both. I'd be greatly appreciated if anything
from the Audity was put online.

In general thoug, is it possible to export Arps and stuff as MIDI
files from any synth? What a dream it would be just to pick and
choose the Arp or sequence from say a Motif or Karma and play it on
anything else (if course without having to BUY it..)

The Orbit v3? Or the 'old' orbit?

The new orbit is the Beatgarden and Technosynth construction yards ROMS in a P2k box.
The old orbit is 1/2 of the ROM samples from the XL-7 with different samples.

The preset of the audity are all the patches - the programming of using the samples.

That should read:

The old orbit is 1/2 of the ROM samples from the XL-7 with different PROGRAMMED PATCHES.

Patches are how you use the samples to make the sounds.

Re: [xl7] Re: instruments/audity 200 presets/sound driver??

There's three - the v1 and v2 are the same unit. The v3 is really completely different synth.

The orbit v3 is the new one. Hmm. Looks like you can get it for about the price of the beat garden and TYCS ROM separately, unless there is a sale on ROMS at emu (there usually is :>)

If you bought the Orbit v3, you could take the ROMs out and put them in your XL-7. And you'ld have 8 ROMS slots to play with. MMmm..

That's a really cool idea Erika. One of the things I wish the XX-7's had
was better hands on control of the effects. While it can be done via the
Quick Edit knobs, you have to set the effects to be governed by the Preset
to do it. Not the most fluid way ....

Re: instruments/audity 200 presets/sound driver??

2003-05-12 by Erika

Thanks..

I have a very limited knoweldge of synths and OSes, but for all I've
seen this syth can do, it seems to lack on the "post production"
edge. Given the right ROMs it's possible to build an entire song in
this thing and given easier access to the effects, set them then just
record, rather than have to record each channel out and add
additional effects. Of course I mean this sepreate from envelope
effects.

And I really really hate turning the wheel on any synth and really
whish a GUI patch editor would get developed for the xl7.

The effects section is pretty bare.

I usually run a pair of effects off each send, and then use the pan knob to control where the signal goes. Yes, I do this live all the time.
