Using different MIDI channels for your kit will also give you
independent control for each drum sound. Something I like to do is use
one track for the full drum kit and then break out the individual parts
into separate tracks. This gives me ultimate control, I can filter and
tweak the whole beat if I like or, mute that track and select the
individual tracks for independent control.
