Making holding notes easier in GRID or STEP RECORD mode .

GRID:If you want a note to hold say from note 3 to 4 press and hold
three then hit 4.From note 3 to 16 press and hold three and hit 16
all the notes from 3 - 16 will be tied together, say for a long bass
sound. This is how the future retro 777 sequencer is. It is simple
and that is good. You dont have to mess with gate times for an easy
result.

STEP: Even the MC-505 is better in this sense you just add a note
then press "tie" for how many times you want the notes to hold. So if
you want it to hold from note 1-5 .. add a note on note 1 then
press "tie" four times ,simple and effective.

OS 2.5 suggestion... How about a COPY/APPEND to function which would
let you "copy a patten to itself making it twice as long" or "append it
to another pattern" making the 2 patterns 1 NEW pattern.

Sequential had this function in their Drumtraks Box in the 80's... I
Liked it !

OS 2.5 suggestion... How about a COPY/APPEND to function which would let
you "copy a patten to itself making it twice as long"

>>>You can do this now in the Pattern Edit menu, it's called "Extend
Sequence Data To:". This lets you take a smaller pattern, and then copy
itself until the Pattern length you specify. Page 80 in the manual. <<<

or "append it to another pattern" making the 2 patterns 1 NEW pattern.

>>>Cool idea! <<<

you can append a pattern to itself using the "extend sequence data to"
function.

appending to patterns would be really nice.

As someone already pointed out, this is what "extend" does.

> "append it to another pattern" making the 2 patterns 1 NEW pattern.

If you don't mess with your routing (i.e. you leave track 1 to channel
1, etc) you can do this with Combine and Explode.

Step 1: Source pattern (the one to be played first): Combine all
tracks.
Step 2: Destination pattern: shift all tracks right by the length of
the pattern to be played first.
Step 3: Destination Pattern: Explode pattern.
Step 4: save to any location you choose.

OS 2.5 suggestions
- Real-time transpose (Similar to MC-505) where the entire sequence can be
transposed on the fly, even while running. This would have to avoid the drum
tracks (or not, but probably yes)
- Global Edit , where holding down a particular button would allow the Quick
Edit controls to change all internal tracks. A reset to original settings button
would be a nice addition to this as well so you could return to the normal
Chaos after really messing things up.

Re: OS 2.5 ideas

Hi All,
Thanks alot Aaron for making us more and more addicted to this little
box ! 2.0 is GREAT !! With all this new functions , now I can do my
stuff far from my PC (in bed !) so every night I'm in cyberspace !!!

What i'd like the most for 2.5 is really REAL-TIME TRANSPOSING (we
hear it in real time, even better we could punch in and out to
transpose not the entire track but say for example from bar 1.3 to
bar 2.4.......With the touchstrip or whatever to set the amount of
transposition , while we punch in&out to select notes that will be
transposed .........It would be Awesome !!
GOD bless you Aaron , may you live forever , or at least until
OS 999999999999999.5 !!!!!!!!!!!
(French sense of humour hope it doesn't hurts !)

Chris
