OS 2.0 Bug?

OS 2.0 Bug?

2003-04-11 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Tried something last night and kept getting weird results, not sure if
it's a bug or not...

Basically I wanted to use the Repeat button to create a snare roll with
the Preset assigned to Track 2. I had already recorded some snare stuff
on track 2, so I muted the track and then pressed the Repeat button. Made
sure the Rec Quantize was set to 1/16th notes, left Rec Mode, then pressed
a pad. Nothing happened. Then, as soon as I press Repeat again, it
unmuted Track 2! Basically, I'm getting some really weird itermittant
behavior using the Repeat button on Track that are muted. Either the
Repeat won't work right, or it unmute my track. sometimes I have to go
back into Rec Mode and out again to get it to work this way.

Anyone seen anything like this?

i just checked it.
this some kind of a bug. in the manual addendum it is written, that
repeat does only function on unmuted tracks.
i think the problem is, that the repeat button is not deactivated if a
track is muted.
perhaps the xl7 gets confused when you manually mute / unmute while you
have repeat activated.

if found another little strange think. when you switch from song mode
to pattern mode then activate x-mix and switch back to song mode, the
xl7 stops playing. it is no bug, but it might have been better if the
xl7 just keeps on playing the pattern until you deactivate x-mix and
press song mode again.

yes, I had similar results with repeat, i cant seem to be able to audition a

Yeah, the pattern needs to be playing (per the manual) but that doesn't
affect the issue I was talking about.

No really, just a somewhat unfortunate side-effect of how repeat was
implemented long .

Repeat requires that the track be unmuted (otherwise, you wouldn't hear
the repeated notes).

Once you go to stop, Repeat is automatically turned off, as you also
can't use it while stopped (because it depends on the running sequencer
to play the repeated notes).

> Then, as soon as I press Repeat again, it unmuted Track 2!

Right. Since the sequencer knows it can't play repeated notes on a
muted track, it automatically unmutes the track you're trying to repeat
on. It doesn't, however, keep you from re-muting the track, though
Repeat will stop working until you unmute it and play another note.
