realtime tempo changing

when i change the tempo of a pattern in realtime with the dial on the XL7 the sound crackles. When I slave my XL7 to my maq16/3 sequencer and change the tempo on the maq 16/3 the xl7 responds fine to tempo changes and does not crackle. anyone have a clue on this?
