Sadly that's how some auto manufacterers are too. Too much effort to replace an
inconsequential piece, especially if its a component made somewhere else. For
200$ pick up an oZone or something...

I tried calling EMU myself. It is difficult to believe EMU could be
that unyielding. The sales people will not let you speak to
purchasing. They are keeping their manufacturing source a secret. It
strikes me as a poor business decision to not sell the pads separate
from the assembly. That is like going in for auto tires and being
forced to buy the wheels and brakes with them.

Instead of yelling at the group, did you ever try to call E-mu Service?

Sorry guys, I am not yelling (excuse the exclamation points) just that the
company emu refered me to is taking forever to get back at me and it pissed
me off when they called me the first time and said they ordered a $204.00
replacment part and were sending me a bill. I just need to find out if the
part is available, how much, and where. Also , I thought this was an emu XX-7
user group, this is an XL-7 problem and Im just looking for answers so chill
out man, sorry for my tone. Peace in the middle east.

PLEASE call E-MU Tech Support or Customer Service. Maybe they will be nice
and cover it under warranty or something, and at the very least could direct
you where to get the part. This is not a tech support group, we don't need
to be yelled at constantly like we did some horrible wrong.

I called EMU today and talked to tech support/ repair. They told me the
rubber pads come as a complete assembly and cannot be ordered seperatly. They
said its a $200.00 part and i need to order it through EPR electronics. There
must be another way to get this part i need. At $200.00, thats almost half
the cost of a new XL-7! Its just a stupid piece of rubber! Can anyone help me
please, Aaron, realm, anyone.

Hey man...how you communicate with your equipment is a personal
thang...But, there are other tools out there...I prefer a keyboard to
the pads, myself...it takes less energy...you don't have to POUND your
groove in the box with a keyboard...man a cheap keyboard will probably
last a lot longer...just throwing some real world options at you Bro.

      Good Luck

You have two choices then:

1. Suck it up, pay the man, and get on with making music.
2. Don't pay and use an external keyboard.

Sorry man, I know you're venting but that's the way it is with ALL
manufacturers pretty much, and there's nothing we can do about it. Not
much you can do, short of going into your local music store with a
screwdriver and nabbing one yourself :)

I am not the victim, yet. My pads are in tact. I was just

I don't know - lexicon will service all their gear for $100 flat fee, and yamaha replacement parts can be had, at cost - I've fixed yamaha stuff myself before.

This is not reassuring considering the places I've been taking the box :/

Re: [xl7] Re: WHAT THE F@#$!!! Still need rubber pad!! Please!!

2003-04-11 by jibarosoul@aol.com

I treat my equipment with utmost respect, as it currently pays my bills. I
have 3 years of audio/visual technician experience under my belt and am very
confident when working/repairing my own equipment. This is why i will not
take my MP-7 in for repair at an authorized repair center. If this so called
"rubber pad assembly" cost $200.00, add to this $60.00 an hour and it could
end up costing me over $300.00 to replace one damn rubber pad. I doubt a
service center is going to settle for this $200.00 price tag for a piece of
rubber, they will probably get it from the same company EMU gets it from.
They will most likely get just the rubber pads much cheaper (but wont tell me
this). The EMU lady could not even tell me what is included with this $200.00
assembly. Anyway, I just want to cut out the middle man and do it myself. Oh,
by the way I also own an Alexis QS 8 weighted keyboard, triton and an ASR-X
pro, I prefer using pads any day to record drums. With OS 2.0 installed in my
MP-7 there is lots of reasons to work exclusively on this machine. Great job
EMU, thank you.
