X-MIX

2003-03-22 by joesapo

Props to the EMU folks for putting out a great product and keeping
the support alive. I can't wait for 2.0 to get here. ;) But if you
wanna throw out an OS hint my way I should be able to wait a while
longer... Any details on how X-MIX works? Do you just select
another track on another pattern and go with it or what? Will tracks
be made available via the B channels or maybe with the drum pads?
Will we be able to bring in parts with volume controls? Just curious.

BTW... the PX-7 looks nice. I swear I'm gonna paint my XL-7
someday. The orange is getting anoying. :)

I too am very curious about the X-MIX feature. Any one got more
info on this one? I would love to know more. Getting excited.

You can select another (Source) Pattern you want to grab tracks from, then
specify which Track in the current pattern the new Track will be assigned
to. Then you select the Track you want to grab from the second pattern.
You can repeat this process for additional tracks. Any source track can
be placed at any destination track. It's much easier to use than to
explain. Very cool though, makes it dead easy to mix from one pattern to
another.

Sounds pretty intuitive. I guess I'll just have to wait and try it

will the controllers such as volume, pan, arp on/off, and program
number will be imported WITH the trak,
or it will be the current controllers that will be kept?

Re: [xl7] Re: X-MIX

2003-03-28 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Arp on/off is a Preset function, not a pattern one so that won't change.
Ie, if the source track uses a preset that has the arp on, the arp will be
on and vice versa. Volume, Pan, Program Number, and FX Send Amounts will
be from the Source Track, while the effect type will be from the current
pattern. If I remember correctly that is. It'll be in the new FAQ (which
is done), I just can't upload it until the OS is out.

so, if i understand fine : only the sequence (notes+events after the
first tick) will be imported?
that's a good way too imho.

thanks

Re: [xl7] Re: X-MIX

2003-03-28 by Aaron Eppolito

Everything will be loaded from the source track that's in there, with
the exception of MIDI routing. This means that preset, volume, pan,
arp setting (the one on the preset view screen), and mix output
selection will all get imported from the new pattern. As rEalm said,
FX settings (like send amounts and FX types) are part of the WHOLE
pattern, so they don't get loaded with an individual track.

The reason for not using the new pattern's channel routing is because
since you can switch track locations (i.e. load 7 into 3), if you used
the source channel, you'd probably be overwriting the settings from
another track. For most people, this shouldn't be a problem, just make
sure to load internal tracks to internal and external tracks to
external ones and you'll be fine.

Nope, other way around... Everything *including* tick 0 will get
imported.

But it's also a pattern parameter (as shown on the preset view page).
It determines off, on, use preset, or use master (off, on, P, M).
