Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

For all your midi questions, the best place to go is the source,  Take a 
look at:

http://www.midi.org/

Then click on Midi Information.  They have a whole bunch of articles up 
there, and while some of it's very technical, it'll go a long way towards 
helping you understand what midi is, and what exactly it can do.  I'm sure 
there's tons of articles online geared towards beginners too, if you need 
more info.
