dumb question here, but can riffs be recorded into a user pattern, or are they only for previewing/audtioning? I read somewhere that it is playback only, but what if I wanted to use a riff? thanks, DJ_vgrep

Not a dumb question. I asked the same question and here are the replies I got. you could connect a midi cable from the MP-7's MIDI out A, to the MP-7's MIDI in. The just hit record on the MP-7's sequencer and play your Preset with the riff you want. If the timings a bit off, you could use quantize to clean it up. connect to the MIDI Out A to the MIDI In of the MP-7; Select your preset riff that you will be using, I forgot what menu you go to, but you want to go to the screen that says transmit MIDI riff; set up your tempo or use the tempo already designated for that specific riff; Press record and you should have your riff being recorded for how long you want, i.e., 4 bars, 8 bars or 16 bars whichever is your preference. That specific riff you recorded should be on the Track/Channel you designated and you could build from there. I hope that helps. dapreacha -----Original Message----- From: studio_6512 [mailto:studio6512@...] Sent: Monday, March 10, 2003 11:35 PM To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Subject: [xl7] riffs dumb question here, but can riffs be recorded into a user pattern, or are they only for previewing/audtioning? Man, wouldn't it be cool if the new OS would support copying riffs... just a thought... not to sound snooty but none of the riffs are so complex that you couldnt just copy them by learning to play them. They are like 4 measures anyway. Then at least you could even add your own variations.

I have my midi out connected to the midi in on my computer, and when I hit the audition button on the MP-7, I get no midi transmission. However when I hit one of the pads, I see activity on the computer. Can you help me? Go to the second page in the Arp menu, entitled "Arp/Riff Midi Out" and turn it to "transmit riff" (or both). -Aaron __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Thank you, that worked. so I am trying to use Logic, how should I have it connected to the pc, midi in on the pc from midi out on the MP-7 and midi in on the MP-7 from midi out on the pc? Is this right. if so I am having weird control error, or when I try and audition what was recorded, it does not play right. What else am I doing screwed up.
