all proud owners of the xl/mp line...

I was doing a search for a support website for the xl/mp series
instrument. Does anyone know of one besides this yahoo group? If
not, is there anyone here that would like to see one put up? If so,
we could register a domain name like xlmp7.com or something like
that. I have the server to do both services. If interested, let me
know, and if I can get enough support, I will put one up. I was
thinking something along the lines of like the Yamaha Motif site, or
the Karma Lab website.

There was a very nice site that i found about a year ago. I put a
link to it and told people about it and it seemed that there was no
intrest. The site is no longer there.

I myself am pretty happy with this site, but it would be cool to
have sompthing like the emulator archive page for the XL's.

Hmmm I guess that is not an answer, so I will say....Ya that would
be cool as long as there is a positive responce to it.

I have to say that it is very kind of you to offer.

Peace

Mike G.

Well, thanks for responding. If I see that a lot of people are interested,
then I will definitely follow through. Let us see how many people will
respond.

Re: [xl7] support website

Why? What would it add that this site doesn't offer? I am all for more
support sites if they fill a need. But what exactly is the need in this
case?

RE: [xl7] support website

2003-03-08 by DJ_vgrep

Well,

Well, first of all have you seen www.karma-lab.com
<http://www.karma-lab.com/> or www.motifator.com
<http://www.motifator.com/> ? If you have, then you know what I am talking
about. If not, I would suggest you look at the sites, and tell me what you
think. Second, I thought I would offer a place for xl and mp owners to have
another resource or location for xl and mp owners. If you think it is a bad
idea, then say so. I sense you don't think it is good. Does yahoo have a
limitation of space to utilize for file sharing/groove sharing. Also right
now, you would have to go to e-mu's site, and yahoo's group site to get
stuff. This website would provide one central homepage to cover all that,
except for maybe the board and what not. Anyway, let me know if you think
it is a bad idea Ravi..

I¹ll add my enthusiastic yes too! If you want to make it a (XL-7) group
effort, I would be more than willing to help with (or completely handle) the
design / look & feel of the site. I work at a big ad agency designing sites
and multimedia pieces for very high-profile companies for the past 7 years.
I think I could do something really cool. I just wanted to put that offer on
the table. If you want to see specifically what I have done, write to me
offline. I have the credentials. I could even just build pages and code HTML
if you would like.

Please take a look at the following examples of what we are missing
out on:

I think the Yahoo groups are fine in that you have a centralized
site for all your groups. However, I am sick of all the
advertisements (people in work wondering why I am looking at bras
all the time), and the limited file storage is a problem.

they are all fine, in fact i belong to ex5tech. BUT, those groups do not provide emails in my mailbox, and as far as I know, yahoo does not send me spam. Also what limited file storage are you refering too? There is still lots of room in the yahoogroups and places like ex5tech do not offer any storage. Please elaborate. Or in any even, who cares! Go ahead make a new place! The more the merrier! whatever the reason, reasonable or not!

I agree, I belong to the Sunesha Virus forums, and aside from the very
rare post now and then, it's largely just noise. Not saying that someone
shouldn't set up a website if they want, but I personally find email lists
to be far more beneficial than the various forums I belong to.

I can post it)

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
