RE: [xl7] using the preset audition in a pattern

RE: [xl7] using the preset audition in a pattern

2003-02-28 by Reverend Douglas Lee

Hey guys I finally got around to using your suggestion about plugging
the Midi A to the Midi in. when I do so it just hangs there and I have
to shut the MP7 down. Is there something I'm missing? Need some help
with this please.

Well one thing I did, like was said before, connect to the MIDI Out A to
the MIDI In of the MP-7; Select your preset riff that you will be using,
I
forgot what menu you go to, but you want to go to the screen that says
transmit MIDI riff; set up your tempo or use the tempo already
designated
for that specific riff; Press record and you should have your riff being
recorded for how long you want, i.e., 4 bars, 8 bars or 16 bars
whichever
is your preference. That specific riff you recorded should be on the
Track/Channel you designated and you could build from there. I hope that
helps.

But I thank the guys on the board for the things I overcame thus far
with
my machine.

I would like to record the preset audtion riff loop into a pattern so
that I could build from there and then put the different patterns into
song mode. I hope it makes sense what I'm trying to do and more than
that, that it actually can be done.

Thanks again.

I've been watching and reading for a couple of days now but thought my
questions might be a little too much but someone told me the question
not asked is the worst.

Hi all I'm new to the group and new to the MP-7 so be gentle with me. I
have a question. Is there anyway to get the riff from the preset
audition into a pattern.

Your getting a midi feedback loop, you need to turn rechannelize off I believe.
Or make sure that there are no soft through functions on?

RE: [xl7] using the preset audition in a pattern

2003-02-28 by Andre Lewis

Sorry it's part of the rechannelize, I don't have the manual handy, but on port
b there is a soft through function, everything that comes in on a gets sent out
on by default... I believe it's in the midi menu, merge midi in to out - make
sure they are both off (A and B)

Re: [xl7] using the preset audition in a pattern

2003-03-01 by Ravi Ivan Sharma

you need to be careful and turn of midi clock send and recieve and thru things so you don't make an endless loop. Get a handle on the ins and outs of the midi data sent and recieved and the parameters that control both and make sure you will have no THRU action happening that will lead to infinite loops.

You could connect a midi cord from the MIDI out to the MIDI in and
  record
  it that way.

Hi all I'm new to the group and new to the MP-7 so be gentle with me. I
have a question. Is there anyway to get the riff from the preset
  audition into a pattern.

you need to be careful and turn of midi clock send and recieve and thru
things so you don't make an endless loop. Get a handle on the ins and
outs of the midi data sent and recieved and the parameters that control
both and make sure you will have no THRU action happening that will lead
to infinite loops.

Hey guys I finally got around to using your suggestion about plugging
the Midi A to the Midi in. when I do so it just hangs there and I have
to shut the MP7 down. Is there something I'm missing? Need some help
  with this please.

Well one thing I did, like was said before, connect to the MIDI Out A
to
the MIDI In of the MP-7; Select your preset riff that you will be
using,
  I
forgot what menu you go to, but you want to go to the screen that says
transmit MIDI riff; set up your tempo or use the tempo already
  designated
for that specific riff; Press record and you should have your riff
being
recorded for how long you want, i.e., 4 bars, 8 bars or 16 bars
  whichever
is your preference. That specific riff you recorded should be on the
Track/Channel you designated and you could build from there. I hope
that
  helps.

But I thank the guys on the board for the things I overcame thus far
  with
  my machine.
