Tempo change zipper noise

Tempo change zipper noise

2003-02-10 by alocaster2001 <alocaster2001@yahoo.com>

I spent some time with an XL7 this afternoon and tried to see if it
will work in my application. One of the things that concerned me was
the zipper noise I heard through headphones while doing changes to
tempo. Is this a reality of the XL7, does zipper noise accompany
parameter changes. Thanks for your help.

No it is not normal for you to hear a "zipper" sound.

Re: [xl7] Tempo change zipper noise

Tempo changes will cause some "zipper noise" ONLY when using
tempo-synced delay FX (such as the tempo-based delay). This noise is
an unfortunate side effect (no pun intended) of changing the taps along
the delay line. You'll also hear these ticks if you manually change
the FXB delay length while playing (not common).

If you don't have the most recent OS (1.32), you should get it as there
were enhancements to this in the 1.3 and later OSes. Basically, for
the tempo based FX, it doesn't change until you "settle" on a new
value, introducing one slight tick instead of a whole slew of them.
