Hihats Mono 1 bug?

Hihats Mono 1 bug?

2003-02-06 by jesse_medway <medway808@hotmail.com>

Hi,

I have a pattern where I made a drum riff and then copied that track
to another track. Then I assigned a different preset to the two
tracks so I could have both tracks play the same notes but different
sounds.

My problem is that when the first track is playing it cuts off some
of the notes of the second track (perc:Hihats Mono1). It only seems
to have a problem with the perc:Hihats Mono1 preset, other ones work
fine. And it also seems to matter what the preset is for the first
track. Right now its perc:Misc, but some of the other presets have
done this too, to varying degrees.

When I've done this test there are no other tracks running at that
time, so I doubt its a polyphony issue.

Is there something about the perc:HiHats Mono1 preset that makes it
prone to cut out easily? I assume its programmed so that any note in
that preset will cut another one off (in order to simulate a real
hihat). I just don't udnerstand how another track could affect it
this way.

Thanks

Jesse

That preset probably has the layers assigned to "Group Mono" which
works across channels. Basically, "group" settings fix the voice to
using the same pool of voices, denoted by the letter. Therefore, all
MonoA presets will only play one note at a time over all presets that
use that group.

Aaron,

Thanks very much for clearing that up. It actually sounded cool in
the track so I left it, but it's good to know why it happened.
