XL7 controlling a Nova and Orbit?

XL7 controlling a Nova and Orbit?

2003-01-15 by ckh_ontour <ckhunt@attbi.com>

i'm considering an XL7 as a hardware sequencer/drum machine in
conjunction with my Novation Nova and Emu Orbit. has anyone had
experiences (good or bad) in having the XL7 control Novation and
other Emu stuff?

specifically, i want to make sure that program changes and other CC
data are able to be recorded and played back properly. i would
assume that all i need to do is insert a program change event at the
start of a track?

I was also wondering abou the XL7's capabilities as an external
sequencer. If it can sequence it's own sounds along with my XP then
we may have a winner. The only highly portable sequencer/synth I
know of is the yamaha's qy100 and the RM1x.

The MP7 rocks as an extenral sequencer. I've got it clocked to an
SP1200, and then controlling an ASR10, 2 Mirages, Yamaha A4000,
MKS80, and a TX81Z. Works great, couldnt be happier, the onboard
sounds are a bonus. Free yourself from the shackles of computers...

For these sorts of questions, why not just download the XL-7 manual
from www.emu.com? It covers the sequencing capabilities in some depth.
