XX-7 versus records

XX-7 versus records

I agree, it may be louder, but it's that 'loose' kind of loud. A good
compressor would definitely help it to blend in with vinyl better. You
play live at all Jesse?

Exactly, bigger in the sense that its boomier but to me not nearly as
good sounding as a properly compressed track.

I've played a few gigs. I'm always afraid of the gear getting
screwed up and don't really like playing live too much so I haven't
really pursued it. Me and Sam did a gig down at WMC a few years ago,
that was about the only decent one I've done.

So you prefer to spin over playing live?

Spinning tables is definately much EASIER than doing a live
gig...especially the setup and tear down. Not to mention it's easier
to hold a beer and a square while spinning....but it's just not quite
as fun...unless of course you have a partner, one on the decks and
one on the gear, and then tag team. That's what me and my cohort did
for new years eve, fortunately we just broadcasted it online, WAY too
much gear to haul on a night like that.

Yeah, I got into spinning records after I got sick of hauling a car full
of gear out to parties every weekend, not to mention the repeated set up
and tear down got old fast. Especially when the cops would come ten
minutes before my set! :) While I like to spin, you're right it's easy
after doing live sets, and to me not as much fun as playing my own music
out. Still, a bag of records is TONS easier to deal with :)

I like the split/tag-team thing too, my girlfriend spins and at a few
parties I would throw some XL-7 stuff over her records, it was a lot of
fun just accenting in that regards.

Yes.

I do complex d&b. Working live is virtually impossible unless I have all my
tracks ready to go. I have found my self simply pressing play and just
adjusting silly little paramiters in the middle. Now I use Final Scratch
and MIX multiple parts of my tracks in. It greats a GREAT mix! And every
set is different. I may use 4-8 mix's per track of mine. I can mix a
record in pretty fast (not to mention that the track's always at the same
speed, so I don't need to worry about pitching too fast) so I can change
things around quite a bit.

AND IT'S FUN! =)
