Cakewalk help?

Cakewalk help?

2002-12-16 by taz_is_dead <taz@etoast.com>

I want to set up my MP7 with Cakewalk to sequence on the PC. I have
an addded P2500 board so I cant use the avaliable instrument maps
which would be the easiest way.
I need to be able to change patches/instruments/presets on individual
channels mid project - not switching back and forth between E Loader
and Cakewalk and transfering patterns back and forth and all that as
its tedious..
I also need to be able to edit presets in realtime and for Cakewalk
to record controller cvhanges realtime.
So basically I think i need the Cakewalk to master/control the
pattern/sequence MIDI data, but for the MP7 to have real time control
of patches/presets and transmit that data realtime
How do I set thisd up? Can anyone help?
Cheers
PS, if anyone can help please email me here: taz@...

Is there a way we could display briefly what the quick edit knob is linked
to and it's value while we are turning it?

>>>Good idea! <<<

I also don't have my manual with me, but can the command stations knobs do
relative jumps instead of absolute? Is there a switch for this somewhere?

>>>No, it's not possible as of now, but it's been asked for many, many
times so hopefully in OS2??? <<<

Yet one more another OS suggestion...

2002-12-19 by Andre Lewis

I think this is in one of the lists or in the current OS build cycle but hey it
never hurts to mention it again:

Is there a way we could display briefly what the quick edit knob is linked to
and it's value while we are turning it? This is done on the Virus's and it
makes it a lot easier to figure out what is going on.

I also don't have my manual with me, but can the command stations knobs do
relative jumps instead of absolute? Is there a switch for this somewhere?

Thanks again,

Andre Lewis

P.S. keep up the good work, really admire what you guys do!

Good idea but unfortunately not very practical. In the Virus and other
synths that use this feature there is a fairly simple relationship between
knob and what is controlled. On the XX-7 any given knob can potentially be
attached to 24 different modulation destinations on each of four layers.
And if that complexity isn't enough you can have two additional presets
link. So the total number of possible, simultaneous destinations is 96*3 =
288!

Of course that is not very likely but it is not all that uncommon for a
single knob to be controlling two or more different destinations on a single
layer, with multiple layers active.

So the information may not be all that useful except in the most basic
situations. It would work fine for many of the presets but it would also be
fairly easy to "break". I can imagine a number of ways of handling the
special case of one or two identical assignments on all layers but handling
more is not very elegant and probably not useful.
