E-MU Newsletter

E-MU Newsletter

2001-10-30 by Chaos9@Fuckyou.co.uk

I just get the new E-MU Newsletter and discover that E-MU is cutting
the street price of the Command Stations to $999.00 bucks. Bummer. I
paid way more for BOTH the Command Stations. Then E-MU offers $200.00
off any expansions before Christmas. Just great. Who has money at
holiday time? That's straight bullshit E-MU. Man dudes I wrote my
dealer I bought my Command Stations from and ragged his shit for
that. I bought both Your Command Stations, E-MU, even pre-paid for
them before they came to the public and they have their quirks I HOPE
get worked out on Upgrades. And You offer 200.00 bucks off
Expansions? How about offering me 400.00 bucks off the cost of a new
Proteus 2500 Sequencer? I want one, for sure, but am I going to buy
one and then You decide to cut the price later and screw people like
us who paid bigger bucks for Your technology? Really. I'm not joking
here. I can't afford expansions before the holidays. So I'm screwed
is what E-MU is saying. Man I am one unhappy customer. Unhappy enough
to do an up-front review for Keyboard Magazine or Future Music in the
UK with glossy photos of my Command Stations and what I like and
don't... believe me, I sleep with these machines. I want some one at
E-MU to write me and talk directly. I cannot afford Expansions before
Christmas. I straight up want some discount for what extra I coughed
up for my Command Stations. And in the New Year. I am NOT joking one
bit here. That's bullshit, and You know it, E-MU.
Write me, straight up. Make me an offer that's fair as a cash
customer. Go ahead, call me or my dealer at Sweetwater Sound. That's
like about 500.00 I'm out in investments and You offer me a pissy
deal on Expansions? Get Real. Wake up and smell the Thorns.

Your personal issue should be addressed to your dealer who will most
likely be able to talk to his E-MU Rep. Sending out a "what is E-MU
going to do for me " to the mailing list will most likely get you no where.

Why do prices drop.

Market Condition usually dictates that. Any one that sales "stuff" is
feeling the pinch. Not only do we compete with Roland and Yamaha, but
Sony and Nitendo for the consumers business ( People are not spending
money now). I know Europe has been down, and the US is in a down period
now. Do not fault us for reacting to the Market. We are trying to
generate positive business. We would love to to keep the Xl-7 price as
is. With the new price, new OS and new ROMS I think this is all positive.

BTW: People who bought cars four months ago got a very good interest
rate. Now, you can buy cars for 0%. No one has offered me any discount
for accessories for the car I bought before the 0% financing. So don't
tell us this Bull Hh*t and we know it. Because no we don't know it. The
fact that we thought about you is much more than any other company would do.

Wow, so does that mean that the List Price will be $999, not $1695?
If so I'll buy my XL-7 new instead of used. Anyone? (I need to know
within 2 days:)

I'd like to get this Newsletter. Can anyone send it to me?
9rpb@... (take out SPAMKILLER from address)
I'm getting an error subscribing to the EMU majordomo list and I need
this info as fast as possible. Thanks.

Thanks!
btw Excellent list support EMU! Your online interaction with
customers on this list has been a major deciding factor to buy the
EMU over the YAMAHA RS7000 (as I know Yamaha have been known to
abandon products without fixing the bugs - ex. SCSI on SU700/pattern
switching delays on RM1X).

Retail in the US is now $1329.00. $999 is an estimated street price,
your E-MU dealer's price may vary. Prices in Europe and other regions
will also vary.

Thank-you so much. Did I mention already about your great support?

Ricky(Chaos9),

Sean is right. Unfortunately that is an issue that your dealer has
to address. The same thing happened to me in "99" when I got my P2K
from my local Guitar Center. 2 months after I got it, they had a
promo for a "free" Protozoa ROM with the purchase of a P2K. When I
got the mailing and called my salesman, he told me to come in and
that he would take care of it. Knowing that I really did not need
that particular ROM, he made me a great deal on the Techno ROM by Rob
Papen which I really wanted and use almost exclusively(awaiting Rob's
Beat Garden to ship). That was good customer service. Stuff like
that brings you back, so in "00" I picked up the XL-1. No promo's
were offered at the time of purchase but he told me that if one came
up, that he would take care of me as he had done before.

Maybe your rep at Sweetwater will do the same for you........

Regards,

 M2

Wow.  Pissed off *and* stupid?  You're upset because they're lowering the price of expansions at a time when *you* can't afford them?  I suppose they should have cleared the idea with you first, eh?

Geez, who hasn't ever bought anything and then watched as the price went down later.  (Computers, anyone?).

Oh, and you're wrong about not joking, it's just that you're the joke.  Thanks for the laugh.

[xl7] E-MU Newsletter

2001-11-02 by Colin Owens

On one hand it would be nice to have more sounds
available for a lower price, but price isn't really
the point. The point is that I have a very nice
sequencer that I can use live. All of us on this list
that own an XL or MP researched hard before they made
a decision. It was money well spent, at a reasonable
price. If the price goes down a couple of hunred
bucks, that's marketing. If the price goes down 500
bucks, that's bankruptcy.

Emu outlasted Sequential, who in fact, screwed them on
their earlier license deals for the prophet series. If
it weren't for the sampler, EMU wouldn't be around to
grace us with their solid products over the past 20
years. If you've ever cracked open the XL or MP,
you'll find a clean, stury layout.

for christ's sake! Be easy on them. It's hard to be a
synth manufacturer in a world flooded with crap. Take
a nice long toke and enjoy the music.

Colin

Just be glad you never bought a K2600X for $5500 when they first came
