Trying E-Loader again

Trying E-Loader again

2002-12-08 by SmoovJazz29@aol.com

I'm trying to get this darn E-Loader to work. What do I do? I've tried
everything I could think of. Even called Emu but it still doesn't work. I can
open the Midi tracker and play notes from the PC to the MP-7 by clicking the
spaces. But when it comes to sending from the MP-7 to the PC I get nothing. I
can't even download the new OS to see if I can get some of these bugs out. If
anyone can give me step by step instructions I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm using Windows XP on a Hewlett Packard PC. I have a Midi cable connected
to the gameport on the soundcard. I've set up E-Loader devices as follows:
Input Port = MPU-401
                                    Output Port = MPU-401
Device ID = 1 (set on the MP-7 as well)
I hope this is enough information for anyone to help me out.

If you can actually see the pattern names in the bank browser as well, then
it seems that you are at the same wall that I was at just a week or 2 ago.
Is your MP7 at os 131 already? or is it lower? In any case, I never figured
out what the problem was specifically, but I blame it on XP, because every
other problem I have on that computer, disappears when i run it in w2k pro.
In any case, what i did was this...I relentlessly tried changing internal
midi settings on my xl7, back and forth and in different combinations (be
sure your mid out is on port A as well)...and in the end, it still didnt
work...so for about 3 days, I would turn on the xl7, start up eloader, try
it, no good....then, all of a sudden, one day it just worked. Boom, just
like that, I had not changed a single thing, and it just started working.
So, I hope this little story helps you somehow.

You need to connect 2 MIDI cables for sysex transfers to work - both
In and Out. From your description it sounds like you didn't do that.

I have in and out connected from the MP-7 to the soundcard's gameport. it's
just one cable with the jack for the gameport and the two midi ends for IN
and OUT. The tech at Emu said that's the minimal requirements. But I still
have no luck.

You said that while in the MIDI Tracker window you could click and
drag and MIDI gets sent out to the XL. What aboout if you play the
XL's pads or sequencer - do you see the bars in the tracker light up?
This tests whether MIDI is getting into E-Loader.

Finally I got E-Loader to work. Cost me $75 but at least it's working. I
purchased the Midisport 2x2 so now I upgraded the OS with the new one. But
the only thing is that it won't let me upload my music to the PC. I can
download from but not to. What is the deal with that? I starts but after a
few seconds I get and upload error in the E-Loader.

I ha the same problem, I'm using the MOTU MicroExpress for my midi
interface....I had had Active Sensing, Song Change, and a few other midi
data options set to be filtered out, since they usually just screw me up
when I'm writing and sequenceing, since I have so many different pieces of
midi gear who all want control. In any case, I opened the filter path
completely, and then it worked flawlessy.....except for the fact that my
midi file was longer than 32 measures, so it cut it off there.
