Expansion ROMS...

2002-12-06 by tj297

I plan to buy some expansions for my MP-7, probably the
Ensoniq Project to start. How am I supposed to install them? I
don't see any documentation in the manual or the website.
Should I just get out the screwdrivers and start pulling it apart? Is
it in the manual and I'm just missing it? Also, what ROMS are
favorites of you folks? I do mostly hip-hop and ambient D&B.

Check out www.nifflas.com

The ambient dnb songs Cymbals and Evening Notes was made with an XL-7
with ZR, World and Beat Garden expansions.

I highly recommend Beat Garden and World roms for ambient dnb. The
World rom for it's wonderful percussion, and the Beat Garden, also
for it's drums, percussion, basses and vox.

And for a piano, ZR is the only way to go :)) I mean, the piano is
REALLY great (I had to tweak with the presets tho to make it sound
like I wanted)

Installing the roms is simple. A manual is included with explains how
it should be done with a Proteus 2000. It's the same, except that the
machine is opened a different way. You just get out the screwdrivers
and start pulling it apart :)

Just make sure you read how to put in the roms in the slots.

Re: Expansion ROMS...

thanks for that. your tunes are great BTW! really like them alot.
you should send them to LTJ Bukem at Good Looking Records.
did you sequence them with the XL-7? sounds really tight.
maybe e-mu can make a good sequencer after all ; ) i like the
sounds of the ZR alot and it's always nice to have a "perfect"
piano around. the beat garden seems like a killer source for real
drums. maybe i'll just have to get both! i probably have enough
hip-hop sounds for now with my MP-7 and i already owned the
Urban Card for my ASR that's on the Ensoniq Project. it's great
how lively this user group is. much friendlier than most of the
software groups i visit.
thanks again.

Re:[xl7] Expansion ROMS...

2002-12-06 by heyrag@netzero.net

It really is quite simple..remove screw from bottom of unit (8) the bottom panel is still connected via computer type cable so remove carefully...you'll see the 4 slots, 1 being filled with your stock rom, the other 3 empty, face your new rom same direction as factory rom, align to slot at aprox 45 degree angle and snap into place such that it is straight up and down like stock rom when complete. Try not to touch contacts or chips when handling due to static elec, if you touch metal case of unit before handling, you will take care of that...could use static wrist strap to be super sure. Doesn't matter which empty slot you use but if you plan on adding more it's easier to go in order 2-4

Yes it is. :)
It's at the end of the manual at emu's.

It was also put here in the files section back in May.

Did you use the fixed instruments available at the William Coakley'
site? http://www.williamcoakley.com/midi.htm

Given the messages on the forum there, the so-called "Perfect Piano"
implementation in the "Sounds of ZR76" ROM is buggy from the begining,
and I don't think it's been corrected ever since.

Anyways, your music does sure sound good! :)

Sebastien,

Is it ok to use my AM radio after NOON?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
