can the p2500 have 8 sound boards installed. And if so can you swap the board in the xx-7 for the one in the p2500.

No and Yes. No the P2500, and the XX-7, can have a maximum of 4 boards installed at the same time. But, yes you can have any combination of 4 boards which means you can swap them from machine to machine.
