MP-7 not recognized on PC USB install

MP-7 not recognized on PC USB install

2002-11-15 by jesse_medway

Hi,

I have an MP-7 with OS 1.31.

I am trying to install the USB drivers for Win ME.

When I plug the USB cable in the hardware wizard
never comes up. I get a quick window that says "New
Hardware found" and then it disapears.

Checking out the device manager shows an entry
in the USB section as "Unknown Device"

I tried installing the "Device 0" driver for this entry
but it gives me a yellow warning symbol afterwards.

According to the instructions these devices should
read as "Device 0" then "Device 1" yet for some reason
this is not happening on my setup.

Any ideas?

I've tried rebooting both the computer and MP-7
but no luck.

Thank you,

Jesse

Starting over....
Unplug the USb cable from the MP7. Go into device
manager and remove the new "yellow caution flagged"
usb device from the hardware list. Take a deep
breath...lol. Now power down your MP7(if it was
turned on). Reboot your PC and wait for ME to
completely booted. Now power on your MP7...let it
boot completely. Plug the usb cable into the MP7.
Now device manager should start to autodetect. If it
asks you for drivers, then fine...you know where to
point it. Try pointing it to the folder and let it
kind of autofind which driver it wants. If you are
lucky it will select USb 0 or 1. If that doesn't
work right away, you may trying selecting emuusb1
before trying device emuusb0....and if windows is cool
enough...it will go ahead to install 1, or it will say
found a more suitable driver for this device and pick
emuusb0 and install that instead. If the first one
loads successfully, then the next one will follow.
But you do need to install both emuusb0 and emuusb1 at
some point for eloader's usb interface to work
properly.

Need more details after that??
Well if you are still getting yellow flagged in
hardware manager then open the usb device and try the
"update drivers" option. Then let it try to sort the
problem out on its on. PCs, Drivers, and Operating
Systems are not perfect...it may take several attempts
before the drivers actually "stick".

Good Luck,
Will
