Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Hey guys, does moving a controller knob on the XL-7 cause the sound to 
jump to the new setting of the knob?  For example, if I select a new 
pattern, and turn the cutoff knob on a Preset, will the cutoff value jump 
to the closet knob value the second I turn it?  Or do I have to turn the 
knob past the Preset's default setting before the new changes are heard? 

Hopefully this is a bit more clear than yesterday pre-coffee shot at 
asking the same question :)  Also, just to clarify, the USB port isn't 
implemented at all right now correct?  All OS changes need to be done via 
E-Loader and the Midi port?  Are there plans for the USB functions in the 
near future?  I'm picking up my XL-7 tonight hopefully, so I just wanted 
to clarify some things before I load the new 1.01 OS after I get it...

Hi Erik,

The control knobs generate a new value as soon as you move the knob. 
For example, the filter cutoff knob does not have to cross the 
current filter setting for the preset it's controlling to start 
working. Its effect is immediate, which has its pro and con 
arguments. But that's the way it is right now.

As for the USB port, an upgrade coming soon will, at the very least 
enable the USB port for the archive & retrieval functions of E-Loader 
& the operating system upgrades using OS Loader, which currently are 
done with the MIDI ports. It's possible that it may be ready before 
the end of the year. 

Congratulation on your decision to go with the XL-7. It's SO COOL!!
