You get spam from them? Weird, never had any issues with them for the
last 4 years I've been using that service. Know of any other free hosting
places besides MP3.com then?

Having been spammed a few times by IUMA, I never go there and never will.

That's because you were already there. Their spamming ways were a major
topic of discussion at amp3.com (and mp3.com) a few years back. (98/99 or
so.)

My most recent spam for IUMA had a post date of Mon, 30 Jul 2001 13:55:52.
The ones from further back are archived offline.

I think http://www.electronicscene.com/ still has a one-free-track thing
going. (Electronic music only.) I have a bunch of stuff on
http://www.artistlaunch.com/ , but their frontpage says "Artistlaunch is
temporarily off-line for system trouble shooting. We expect we may be out
of commission for two or more days."

I too, have never gotten spam from IUMA...I had a hard time accessing files
on there sites when they first started out, but that was it....here are
some other mp3 sites though

http://www.vitaminic.com
http://www.mp3.com.au

I don't know if the australian mp3.com is affiliated with THE mp3.com, but
I don't think they are, thier approach and atmosphere are completely
different, and I've always liked there service (not to mention I've
actually made it to number on in the electronic charts a few
times!)...Vitaminic I think lets you post single songs that are freely
downloadable, albums have to break down to a $7 cost I think though....I
cant recall for sure, it's been almost 2 years since I updated my sight
with them.

So where did tyhis whole 'contest' thing come from? All I've recieved are
replies about it...whats the deal? Anything goes as long as it's done with
the xx-7's?

Thanx for the info. The contest is still getting the details worked out,
I just posted some rules for duscussion this morning in fact. As much as
I'd liek to find a site that's accomidating to all, I still need to be
able to set it up too. Unfortunately the MP3.com this is out of the
question, as my work's server blocks me from even entering their site,
whether it's the english one or the australia one. Vitaminic is the
parent company of IUMA now, so I think I'll just stick with IUMA for
hosting the site. Sorry to those that don't agree.

Anyway, the site addy will be:

http://emucs.iuma.com

Once the approval process is complete. Here's the temp addy if anyone
wants to take a look in the mean time (actually not up yet):
