It's on you to do that, not us. Go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups
Then click on XL-7 as the group you want. From there, you'll see a link
on the far right side of the screen that says:
"Edit My Membership"
Click on that, scroll down a bit and select:
Message Format - Do Not Convert To HTML.
Save your changes.
Done.

I'm not a "member" of yahoogroups, ergo all screen interactions are out. (Including polls, the suggestions database, etc.) And not all messages come through as HTML. F'rinstance, the one I'm replying to didn't. But all of Ravi Ivan Sharma's DO come through that way, so unless/until I perform massaging on them, they look like blank messages. That's what I think the complaint was about. >It's on you to do that, not us. Go to: > >http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups > >Then click on XL-7 as the group you want. Also, there's no setting I can make as a moderator to change that, I
checked the first time you emailed me last week. Maybe the list admin can
do it (though I don't think they have that option either), but I can't.

HI all, It took me a while some time back to work out how those "Edit My Membership" set-ups work, but basically, if you send a post with HTML enabled in your email client, the recipient (ie. everyone) receives in HTML meaning your messages are received with any special fonts and text colour enabled, and Yahoo slaps an annoying banner ad on the bottom that the computer must connect to the internet in order to d/l, even in you were offline and just wanted to browse your personal archives. Those with HTML permanently disabled in the email client (as is my work address) receive the HTML-style mail in raw text but littered with HTML code throughout, making the true message hard to read. > Message Format - Do Not Convert To HTML. This setting stops non-HTML posts from being converted to HTML, and therefore stops Yahoo slapping an annoying banner ad on the bottom of *every* mail sent to your mail box (well they do, but it's text only). In every yahoogroups post I send, I go to the Format menu (Outlook Express - Mac) and disable the HTML option prior to sending. It's possible for the moderator to switch off HTML for every post distributed by yahoogroups (as some lists do, such as DAW_mac). The catch is though, everyone sending HTML must stop too, otherwise their posts are received by all with ugly HTML code throughout. I guess it's easier to stop it at the source. Phil

( I think). I don't think this will work either. The html isn't being sent as an attachment. I'm all for elegant, efficient posting, but... it's a losing battle. Your best bet is to get a reader that can deal with html posts. This group has half a thousand members, with more being added every day - since we can't stop html posts with technology, we'll have this battle repeatedly as new members arrive. Your best bet is to get an html/rich text capable reader. Jonathan

Actually I checked the help section, if the moderator turns off attachements, then all html posts are rejected. I personally think this is heavy handed and that everyone should graduate to html mail clients, BUT, the advantages to this are that the ADS are cut down to little text blurbs, not the huge pictures. So it is positive in that respect. Anyhow, rEalm changed it and we will see how we like it!
