I can spend hours just pressing "Randomize Preset" over and over again, you get some mad sounds that way too.

There a a bazillion sounds in that machine.... using the transpose button back and forth through different
sound banks....you could spend hours alone just SOUND Browsing!

What about it? Sorry, I don't work for Emu, so I have no idea what the
issues are with that. If it's still not out, then I think that's pretty
sad. The XX-7's have been out for too long to have that go unremedied,
especially as E-Loader is THE ONLY WAY to back up Patterns and songs.

E-Loader has always worked for the mac. The only thing that's lacking
is Macintosh USB drivers. E-Loader should work fine over MIDI.

UNLESS you are using a USB MIDI interface, at least in my experience so
far. This means that you have to be using a mac with a serial port.

For the record,

E-Loader 1.0 launches perfectly on my G4 Mac 450MHz, v9.2.2, OMS 2.3.8,
Emagic AMT8 (USB MIDI Interface).

Admittedly, I don't own a XL-7 and have only used E-Loader for OS updates to
my P2k, but it works, and I can call up all the E-Loader utilities.

So for OS updates at least, E-Loader works with my USB MIDI interface.

Please feel free to ask re any specific configuration (of which I haven't
done anything fancy).

This is good - or at least hopeful news indeed. I have spent hour(s)
trying to get eloader 1.1 to up or download to the XL7 with no success.
Configuration is mac G4 400. MOTU USB MIDI Express XT, Digital
Performer 2.7 using OMS emulator. I can see the XL7 banks etc in
eloader - but any attempt to up or download fails. Maybe it is becaue I
am not running OMS ("Oh, A Mess"), which I have been trying avoid if at
all possible as in my experience (many years with OMS - I was SO happy
to finally be free of it) it creates more problems than it solves. Emu
tech says that if I can see the XL7 info in eloader than the OMS
emulator all should be fine. Any advice or insights are greatly
appreciated.

Thanks to all!

Ed

I'm using E-loader on a Mac (Pismo PowerBook) and a MOTU micro-express
USB interface. I get the occasional transfer failure when getting all
the pattern names, but it's certainly robust enough to use.

Can you give me any more info on what fails? Are you able to send/receive
MIDI using the MIDITracker window? Do you get any error alerts or any telling
information about the failures in the Message Console log?
