My XL-7 is getting weird...

My XL-7 is getting weird...

When I turn the DATA wheel fast towards any direction the value I'm
trying to edit seems to "jump".... Perhaps if I should explain it
like this: The value is 64, I want it to be 0, so I rotate the data
wheel, and suddenly it says 127 or anything...

Very strange. No, I did not rotate the data wheel in the wrong
direction.

Something wrong with the encoder? No idea. But it's getting worse.
I'm thinking about trying to making an XL-7 mod, changing the data
wheel to another one.

The warranty period is over anyway... so why not?

Any suggestions? What components should I look for in order to
repair / change the data wheel?

Nifflas,

There is a device connected to the data wheel called an encoder.
That is what's going bad. What I do on mine is to apply slight
pressure on the indentation(on the wheel)while turning in either
direction. That eliminates the jumping for me.

Later,
