New OS and Updates?

New OS and Updates?

2002-08-26 by djnorythm

The only comment that I have seen in this forum regarding a new OS or
any kind of updates was a few weeks ago, when an emu tech said that
there would be word in September. I am not so sure. The USB support
for the mac was supposed to be out in July. It is not available yet,
and there has not been an explanation. Waz Up?

What about a better song mode or mayby a more "live" friendly pattern
mode. It is called a command station, but it looks like I will be
confining it to slave mode.

By the way, I love my MP-7 and I only want it to be better.

I tried calling EMU the other day about the free ROM offer that I
sent in for and never got. They told me that the division of EMU
that handled promotions and some other parts of the company were now
being handled by Creative Labs. It sounds like EMU is going through
a major shake up or merger of some kind. We can only hope that
EMU/Creative will support their hardware as well as EMU did by
themselves. But if this is any indication I doubt I'll be getting
that free ROM, I was on hold for almost 30 minutes before I was told
call tomorrow in the morning. If I had MY WAY... I'd want them to
just open-source the OS. I mean, you gotta buy the hardware for the
OS to work... and just imagine all the hacks people out there could
come up with.

I actually had someone from EMU call ME about the “free” ROM offer I never received. She left a voicemail, didn’t really say why she was calling (probably to tell me I will never see it). I haven’t had a chance to get back to her yet. At least I finally heard something about the form I sent in, even though it was 3 months later. How long have you been waiting for your ROM?

If you hear anything about the free ROM situation, let us know. It was a deciding factor in my purchase – I felt like I would be getting more for my money over a competitor’s product.

I got a call last week from Creative Labs. The woman on the phone wanted to know what ROM I wanted and read me a list of what was available (everything). I was under the impression that only the P-ROM was offered. I even wrote "P-ROM" on my rebate request. In any event, I told her I would take a Beat Garden. So I guess its on the way. It probably doesn't matter though since I suspect I want to get the Pop Rom anyway.
