What is the best/easiest way to save data since there isn't a disc drive option and I was told that the to host/USB port was not yet functional? Thanks for your time. Rick

The best and easiest way is to use the included MAC or PC Program called "E-Loader" that comes standard with a XL or MP-7. This program works via MIDI. It enables you to do bulk saves or loads of pattern and song banks. Also, it allows you to load and save individual patterns or songs into folders on your computer. They are saved as Standard MIDI files. This enables you to open patterns created on your Xl-7 in a computer based Sequencer or better yet it also allows you down load SMF's made with any sequencer into the Xl-7 as Songs or Patterns (up to 32 bars). We hope to have all of this functionality implemented into the Xl-7 via USB shortly. sean ay e-mu / ensoniq radside1@... wrote: > > What is the best/easiest way to save data since there isn't a disc > drive option and I was told that the to host/USB port was not yet > functional? Again, I thank you for your answer. One more question though. There are now USB powered Zip drives on the market. Will the Xl-7/MP-7 be able to save to one of these zip drives. This would be nice to have in case the MP-7 crashes and the PC is at home while you are in another state. I very much doubt it - zip drives don't have midi interfaces. Furthermore, a USB zip drive has a "peripheral" USB I/O, and so does the XL-7. Neither is host. --- In xl7@y..., radside1@h... wrote: > Again, I thank you for your answer. One more question though. There > are now USB powered Zip drives on the market. if the usb i/o will not be used for a usb zip/storage device what is its purpose? --- sserendipity@... wrote: > I very much doubt it - zip drives don't have midi > interfaces. > > Furthermore, a USB zip drive has a "peripheral" USB > I/O, and so does > the XL-7. I think that it will be used only to allow control by a computer for loading/downloading files. It's a real bummer that no onboard storage is available. I really wanted to get this box but now I'm considering the Yamaha RS7000. I like the Emu's interface better but I need some type of onboard file backup other than a laptop.
