Help with saving PRESETS to my PATTERNS?

Help with saving PRESETS to my PATTERNS?

2001-10-09 by garrisonheslin@yahoo.com

I still have not figured out how to store the patterns that I write
with the preset sounds I selected. They stay intact when Im finished
saving the pattern, But when I turn off the machine and goto sleep, I
wake up the next day and none of the presets a right.

2. I was wondering if the preset location is the same for track 1 on
all patterns I write, or can I assign multiple presets to track 1(or
2..3..4..)? I've noticed when I go to write a new pattern in a new
location(i.e next pattern #) and assign a new kick drum, the previous
patterns all change their kick drums(i.e track/channel 1)

    ????????WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???????????

                   Thanx Garrison

Garrison,
I have not been able to re-create your situation. But, there may be
an issue with the order in which you pick the next track, or channel.
A Pattern should ALWAYS remember what sounds you picked.

The thing you MUST remember to do when sequencing, as you progress
from track to track is to make sure you are advancing TRACKS, not
CHANNELS.

For instance; when finished with track 1 and you wish to record on
track 2, you need to make sure that the LCD screen is showing the
TRACK # in the upper left corner, NOT THE CHANNEL #, before using the
Track/Channel +/- button to advance the track #. The PRESET button
below the LCD screen must be OFF when you want to change tracks. What
usually happens (if done wrong)is that everything sounds fine until
you come back to the pattern, and everything is goofy.
The best way to remember this proceedure is to turn the PRESET button
ON only when initially setting up what sounds you want on what
channels. Of course, you can go there any time to make on the spot
adjustments or to audition sounds, just remember to turn it OFF when
finished setting up sounds. The bottom line...during the pattern
sequencing process, you want your display to be showing the PATTERN
MODE so all you have to do is advance your track number.

I hope I'm not totally off base here, but similar situations have
come up with this being the fix. GOOD LUCK!

I think I'm good with the track -vs- channell windows, and while im
using the machine(i.e. after i've programed a sequence and selected
the various sounds/presets), all goes well. I can switch my patterns
and not lose the settings. But when I turn on the machine, it seems
like it resets the channels to the factory setup(i.e channel 1A is
kit-0, channel 2A is kit-1, channel 3A is kit-2 and so on...) is
there a safe/protect mode im not seeing? maybe someone can give me a
specific way you save your patterns/presets? any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Hi Garrison,
The machine will in fact power up with a DEFAULT set of sounds on
each MIDI channel, but as soon as you dial up a pattern, the sounds
that belong to the pattern you saved should all where they're
supposed to be.

Now if you want a custom default layout of presets/channels, you can
create a MULTISETUP. They are found in the GLOBAL EDIT area.
Multisetups store: The Channel/Preset assignments for MIDI 1A-16A, 1B-
16B, Knob Custom Assignments, Trigger Custom Assignments, as well as
some other stuff. There are a total of 64 Multisetups (0-63) in the
Command Station, of which 63 (0-62) are editable and storeable, and 1
(#63) is a default multisetup. Each time you want to make a new
pattern, simply load the appropriate multisetup.

Thanx that might just be the problem. I havent got that far into the
setups yet. But soon (maybe tonight) i'll be on to the next problem.
Thanx again for the help.
