Does anyone know if it is possible to record mutes into a song using realtime recording mode? I am trying to cut tracks out shortly after they sound so you can hear the delay on the track decay. Will I have to use an external sequenser to record this effect? Hi Gary, Yes! You can record mute & un-mutes in song mode/realtime record. This allows lots of possibilities, such as using only 1 pattern over & over again, with different mute/un-mute conditions. Actually, if you play some of the songs that came in your Command Station you will notice this trick being put into action. Also, this is an excellent area to record realtime knob movements instead of having them in the pattern! So...have at it! -ultrawoof96 (Larry) --- In xl7@y..., gary saville <saville@c...> wrote: > Does anyone know if it is possible to record mutes into a song using realtime recording mode? > I am trying to cut tracks out shortly after they sound so you can hear the delay on the track decay. > Will I have to use an external sequenser to record this effect? > > Gary > saville@c... > www.mythic.com > > > __________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE personalized e-mail at http://www.canada.com

As this is an important feature to me, and is not often correctly implimented, I tried this experiment in GC just last week. It did not work. What does work is that every time you step enter a pattern you can assign it any combination of mutes. But this is the only way to record mutes in song mode. Unless I missed something (stores are not an ideal place to test things). Again I hope I am wrong, and hopefully Emu will clear this up! drK > > > > __________________________________________________ ________ > > Get your FREE personalized e-mail at http://www.canada.com

Yea, I've tryed through pattern mode and song mode, there doesn't seem to be a way to make a track trigger mid-bar, only on the downbeat of one. I've gotten around it by triggering the track and then using the volume nob to bring the track in and out. But this can take allot of editing because if your timing isn't right on you hear the volume scoop in. All around the sequencer could use more features, like a gate feature in grid record mode, and realtime recording should really record everything you do. Maybe future os upgrade could address it. Sorry I don't mean to sound like a drag or anything, I love the box. but I don't think I'll be using it as my main sequencer.
