Pattern assignments

2001-08-15 by radside1@home.com

Hi all,

It seems that this group is pretty quiet. I have a few more
questions that I hope someone can answer for me.

Can a whole pattern be assigned to a pad and then be triggered as
though it was one note like a sample? If so, do you have to wait
until the entire pattern has played before triggering another?

Can different tracks in a pattern be assigned to mute groups so that
you can mute an entire group by muting only one of the mute keys?

Thanks.

Rick

Yes, each pattern can address all of the midi instruments at once.

The patterns follow the track - think of the trigger buttons as mutes on a mixer, rather than sample triggers.

>Can different tracks in a pattern be assigned to mute groups >so that

No, no mute assignments. Use multiple fingers.

I would really like to see group assignments - it would make for much more powerful arrangement. Not mute groups, like the one you specify above, but grouping like a hihats - where turning on one pattern turns off the other's in it's group. This would let users switch melodies or drum patterns without having to worry whether the first section is still playing.

There's not a function in the box at this time for this particular
feature, but If you read my answer below to your other question you may
see some ways with combining several parts to a track that you may able
to accomplish what your after.

This can be accomplished by coping several tracks down to one track and
assigning your destination track's MIDI channel to Multi (each of the 16
tracks can have 16 MIDI channels of discrete data). This will allow you
with one mute button push to bring in or take out several tracks at
once.
