sample loading software...?

sample loading software...?

2002-07-11 by shakerz25

Sorry if this has been brought up before...Is there some software out
there (or could EMU create some) that would allow you to load samples
into the XL-7/MP-7 ROM from a computer, instead of the E4 sampler way?

Something similar to the Roland SP-808 WAV Converter program, which
allows you to load WAV files from a PC/MAC onto a ZIP disk that can
then be used in the SP-808. (FREEWARE provided by Roland, by the
way!) Maybe the Command Station could get the samples via the USB
port or some other way...?

I'm thinking of getting an XL-7/MP-7, but don't really want to get an
E4 sampler, just to have samples in my groovebox.

THANKS!

It's in the wishlist though I don't know they will be doing that anytime soon.

Well I see the main problem being that you would have to be able to burn the samples to a sample rom ala E4 style or Alesis QS series. Seems like you would need to get a blank card and hope you can format it from the device. It would allready have to be supported in hardware...?

RE: [xl7] sample loading software...?

Yeah, you'd still need a blank ROM ($$$$$), but the hardware is in the
XL-7's to do this. All that's needed is the software. Hmmm, wonder what
that could be :)

I'd like all of you to know that the Command Stations will NEVER be
samplers. The hardware is NOT THERE to write ROMs. It isn't for lack
of software. It won't happen. Try buying an Ultra Sampler. They are
bomb ass!!

How long does it take to get the free ROM?

2002-07-13 by Mark Pipher

I\u2019m curious to find out from anyone that has already received their free ROM how long it took. I sent in for mine quite some time ago, and still have not received mine. I sent out some other rebates a few days later, and have already received the checks for those. I figured this would be fairly quick to get. Is their anyone I can contact to check on the status? There wasn\u2019t any info on the rebate form I had if I recall correctly.

Thanks for your time. Sorry for sounding impatient! :)

Re: sample loading software...?

2002-07-13 by noision1

You could be right, but how do you explain the ability of the XX-7s
to *burn* "User Bank(s) to Flash" and *burn* a new name to a Flash
SIMM using the Sound Authoring functions as included in the current
O.S. and described on page 232 of the manual?

The main hardware problem as I see it however on the other hand is,
since there doesn't appear ( I could be wrong ) to be 32 Megs of RAM
inside the XX-7s to stream the sample data onto the Flash Ram, if
the flash ram cannot be written to incrementally, is the USB
protocol stable enough to be able to stream such a 32 meg block of
samples to the Flash Ram in one shot so as to not cause errors?

Go E-mu Go!

Re: Empty Square Socket

Not to worry Ravi, it's just for internal(factory)use only. I had
the same thought while installing the TSCY in my P2K 2 + years ago
and don't you remember seeing the same thing on your XL-1 before? My
XL-1 has the same open space by the RAM card.

I forgot about it in the XL1 until I saw it again in it when I
swapped out my TSCY into the XL7. BTW I have an XL1 for sale $425 if
anyone wants one. :)

their free ROM how long it took. I sent in for mine quite some time
ago, and still have not received mine. I sent out some other rebates
a few days later, and have already received the checks for those. I
figured this would be fairly quick to get. Is their anyone I can
contact to check on the status? There wasn't any info on the rebate
form I had if I recall correctly.

Re: [xl7] Re: sample loading software...?

And where are you getting this information from?

I'd like all of you to know that the Command Stations will NEVER be
samplers. The hardware is NOT THERE to write ROMs. It isn't for lack
of software. It won't happen. Try buying an Ultra Sampler. They are
bomb ass!!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
