I would like a subjective opinion here. I haven't bought a XL-7/MP-7 yet. I'm wanting to make D&B/Jungle with it. I had assumed that the XL-7 was the way to go. I read a message that said how great the MP-7 was for D&B. Which way should I go?

I just got the XL-7 and love it. Its a bit confusing at first, but
in time it too shall call me the master. When I went to get it I
tested out both. Both are filled with awesome sound banks, and they
both sound great. I write jungle/D-n-B and was looking to upgrade my
gear. I was leaning towards the XL-7. In the store I realized it
didnt matter which machine(XL-7orMP-7), they both are based on the
same sequencer platform, just different sound banks. The MP-7 seems
to be geared towards more HIP-HOP while the XL-7 is a little more
synth based. I'm sure you wont be disapointed with either or.

Yea, yea. I know all about the features and how they both equally kick heller ass!(I've already read the mannual.) The only thing I don't know about is how their sound sets compare. I will defenantly buy one of them. I just want to make sure I buy the right one. So I'll ask again: Wich one's sounds are more suited to D&B/Jungle? Opinions anyone?! --- In xl7@y..., garrisonheslin@y... wrote: > I just got the XL-7 and love it. Its a bit confusing at first, but > in time it too shall call me the master. My opinion is , the MP-7's drums are better for D&B. For more ambient styles, the pads and synths in the XL-7 are stronger. You can always buy one and then upgrade your unit with the other ROM board (Pure Phatt or X-LEAD). Then your decision is based on "which color". BTW, when you listen to the factory patterns there are more D&B like grooves found in the Xl-7, but if I had to choose, I'd go with the MP-7. sean at e-mu / ensoniq beat_rebel@... wrote: > > Yea, yea. I asked my dealer that same question. His reply is that when he asks Emu about the composer ROM they refer him to "Sounds of the ZR". His contact at Emu says the two ROM's are similar enough that they see no need to release the composer ROM as an expansion. I had Sounds of the ZR in my P2K because of the nice piano and moved it to my XL-1 upon purchase. It matches very nicely with the XL-1 ROM. I plan to add the World board to the XL-1 to really expand my possibilities. I have the Techno board in the P2K and hope to put an orchestral board in each device. My goal is to spread related ROM's across the two machines, doubling polyphony and lightening the load on each machine. That way I can do heavy orchestrations or complicated techno passages using the machines in tandem so the midi timing stays tight. --- In xl7@y..., "Jonathan El-Bizri" <sserendipity@n...> wrote: > Sean, > > Does emu have any plans to sell the composer ROM separately at any time?
