Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

so i got a new mac. Quicksilver 867 and it's awesome.

only trouble is opening up E Loader doesn't happen. it gives me an 
error type 2 and immediately quits.

tried reinstalling, loading MRJ again, and nothing seems to work.

anyone have this trouble?

is there a fix?

I've never tested E-Loader with a Quicksilver. I would not have expected any
problems, since presumably it is running OS 9.2.1 and MRJ 2.2.5, both of
which I am running on my G4. I'll look into it.

Sounds like a good excuse to talk to my boss about upgrading my Mac ;-)

Good stuff,

please do let me know what you find. i am totally baffled. everything 
else made the transfer between Mac's except for this application.

i have 9.2.1 installed and i tried first re installing E Loader, then i 
re installed MRJ that was supplied with the Emu software, and last i 
tried upgrading MJR off the 9.2.1 install disk.

none of these had any effect on the situation.

i'd love to see my purple screen again.

I've had a Beta tester check E-Loader out on his Quicksilver 867 and he 
says it works fine.

Is there any more that you can tell me about your setup that might be 
unusual? Do you have OMS 2.x installed correctly? How much RAM is in it? 
Are you having any problems with any other applications?

ok:

the mac is a Quicksilver 867 Mac.
OS 9.2.1 only (OS X completely removed)
740 megs of ram
OMS installed (version shipped with Pro Tools 5.1)

the OS is fine. i am running Pro Tools, Logic Audio, Sound Diver, 
Digital Performer, Cubase and Recycle all in association with OMS just 
fine.

the only issue i am having with the mac is that E Loader simply quits 
when i try to open the application with an error type -2 reported.

i will try to allocate more memory to it.

what is the system configuration of your beta tester? using OS x?

is there a way to test the integrity of MRJ?

This is unlikely to help. Since this is a Java based application it 
doesn't have the same kind of memory issues that you are used to in Macs.

He's running the same setup as you - OS 9.2.1, MRJ 2.2.5, OMS etc. In 
fact he is also a ProTools guy with all kinds of Audio and Video 
applications working fine.

I'll send you an MRJ test app offline and we can see if that points us 
in any direction.
