Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

the new sampler - Emulator 5 Latest word is that it will be a full 
functional Software sampler. Will this software allow us to burn our 
own samples into the XX-7's 32 MB Flash ROM without the E4 Ultra 
hardware. And if so would the sound be sent through the usb 
connection or the midi ports. How much would this software cost and 
when will it be release to the public.

The XX-7 doesn't have the capability to burn ROMs, so sending the sounds 
via USB wouldn't do any good; it will only recognize .smf files and XX-7 
preset files, hence you'll still need an E4 around to do any burning.

I'm certainly no expert, but I'm guessing it can burn ROMs, it just lacks 
the software to organize and prepare them ala the Emu samplers.  The guy 
who posts the Emu XX-7 tech tips in the Newsletters (Larry something or 
other) is a Midwest US Sales Rep, we met once at a seminar where I bought 
my XL-7 and were talking about this, thus my info.  Will the E5 let XX-7 
users burn their own ROMS without a sampler?  Can't say but it would 
certainly put the XX-7's at the top of the 'groovebox' food chain, 
something I'm sure Emu is aware of...

we were told it couldn't burn ROMs.
