POLL QUESTION: What feature would you MOST like to see
implemented in a new OS release for the
Command Stations?

CHOICES AND RESULTS
- An Undo (Revert To Saved) keyboard shortcut, to make undoing a bad take easier and faster., 0 votes, 0.00%
- A Record Replace mode, not just Record Overdub., 0 votes, 0.00%
- Short cuts or button presses that would allow you to latch the Arppegiator (as well as turn it on or off) on the current track, without needing to go into the Preset Edit menus. , 1 votes, 6.67%
- A way to select the current ARP by holding down the ARP button and scrolling with the data wheel., 0 votes, 0.00%
- Finer increments of Tempo resolution. IE, tempos smaller than whole numbers., 1 votes, 6.67%
- A way to select new Patterns without having to scroll. Similar to Pattern Call functions., 2 votes, 13.33%
- Track selection scrolling. IE, if you are on Track 16 and press +, the track should jump to Track 1, not remain at Track 16. , 0 votes, 0.00%
- The ability to assign a 16 step recorded phrase as an Arppegiator, instead of having to enter it step by step. , 0 votes, 0.00%
- Real-time erase with range selection. Instead of having to hold the actual notes you want to delete while in real-time record, you should be able to hold the highest and lowest notes and everything in-between that range will get deleted., 0 votes, 0.00%
- The ability to turn on a feature that would let all actions send out sysex data. , 0 votes, 0.00%
- The ability to stop at a certain measure while in grid recording., 0 votes, 0.00%
- A way to set up markers within longer Patterns, so that only the measures within that range will loop, making editing sections of larger Patterns easier. , 0 votes, 0.00%
- The means to a shift an entire track by a certain amount, ticks and quarter notes. , 0 votes, 0.00%
- The ability to jump to a new Tempo without having to scroll to it, similar to the way Pattern Selection works during Playback., 0 votes, 0.00%

- Fix the existing bugs first., 0 votes, 0.00%
- The ability to specify whether Preset and FX Send information is also copied when you copy a Track to a new Track, 0 votes, 0.00%
- The ability to burn ROMs directly in the XL-7, without the need for an Emu sampler. , 7 votes, 46.67%
- A Preset Editor and/or Librarian included as part of E-Loader, so that user don't have to rely on sysex dumps for their Preset management. , 1 votes, 6.67%
- The ability to select whether the XX-7 will let the selection of a new Pattern change the tempo to the value saved with that Pattern, instead of having the tempo remain the same from Pattern to Pattern while playing back. , 0 votes, 0.00%
- The means to swap out tracks from other patterns during play back, allowing you to slowly morph from one pattern to another on a Track by Track basis. Similar to Megamixing. , 2 votes, 13.33%

I think that the good folks at e-mu can see the value in all
suggestions regardless of whether or not people vote. There are no
doubt many more people who just read this NG than actually post.

and here is to increased functionality for those Play Pads,

*actually more for anyone - would love to see those pads be able to
also function as a numeric keypad for data entry. They would seem to be
the logical choice, and lots of people seem to want an alternative to
the wheel.

idea:

pressing both CURSOR keys simultaneously puts XL7 into NUMERIC KEYPAD
MODE
C thru A = numbers 0-9
A# = minus 1
B = plus 1
"hi" C = ENTER/return to normal PLAY mode

but yes, Paiste, great products

thanks Nick

I like this list, because we don't just bitch and complain about what we
want (Who us? Never! ), we at least try and offer up solutions as well.
Nice one gong....

Asking to vote for something broken to get fixed?
Is that nonsense?
Bug-fixing should be priority number one for any new OS release.
Unless E-MU is like Yamaha, perhaps. :)

I agree, but that's the only way Yahoogrops allows voting, out of my
hands....

. Although I highly applaude the effort
that was supplied for us, I think the results look skewed when there are
features that have no votes at all. I think more useful information could
have
been supplied to E-Mu if everyone could vote on all the items they wanted.

Eh? When one creates a poll the first choice is whether the voters can pick just one, or more than one choice.

Only if you have a lower amount of choices. We maxed out the poll in
terms of number of choices (30), so I couldn't do that. Feel free to set
up your own though...

Eh? When one creates a poll the first choice is whether the voters can
pick just one, or more than one choice.

Although I highly applaude the effort

didn't know that. I don't care for meaningless polls though. I trust Sean and the rest at E-mu know what we want.

Only if you have a lower amount of choices. We maxed out the poll in
terms of number of choices (30), so I couldn't do that. Feel free to set

Re: Voting

Just the fact you took the effort was great. I for one am grateful for almost all of
you folks. Your interested, your passionate about what you do. You Kats are
the best. Let's rendezvous at NAMM (anyone going) for an XX-7 party!
It might be fun to see if E-Mu would like to co-sponsor some low key event.
The bold could hit the stage for a 15 minute set and we could hang and
exchange XX-7 tips.

Let me know if there's any interest. Absolutly no promises at this point but we
could probably pull something together.

Re:Realm mix pretty cool!

Eric, I caught your Transitions Live PA mix on Mixtapehost.com.
Sweet! The name is also quite appropriate. I really like the way you
hint at some classic pop phrases (which makes me listen harder and
smile) but really lay down an entirely new groove. I think I like
the last 9 minutes the most, although minutes 34-40 and 9-12 are
also favorites.

Was this from a live set? What were you using for gear? Sorry if
this is a recapp from earlier.

Mark

Re: [xl7] Re:Realm mix pretty cool!

2004-03-15 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

Yes that was 100% live, recorded back in August if I remember correctly.
It's almost entirely XL-7, with a few samples from a Roland SP808ex thrown
in too. The XL-7 had the Protean Drum ROM (used for all the drum sounds),
and the Proteus Pop ROM installed as well. I should have a brand new live
set posted in a couple of weeks that will be entirely PX-7 based, and I
will of course post here when it's ready.

Also, if anyone in Chicago is interested, I'll be doing a live set at Spot
6 on Clark on April 17th, no cover. I have some radio gigs (broadcast and
streaming) coming up that will be live sets as well. Really been pushing
my new live set, as it's almost ready....
