Touch Strip

Touch Strip

2002-05-30 by John Royle

Hi, does anybody know how to use the touch-strip to send external midi cc data? I couldn't seem to find out how to do it. I know you can patch it to many of the attribs of a preset, but i want to use it to control some of my other midi gear.
cheers,
john.

Touch Strip

2004-07-20 by _5ht

Hi,

I am a proud new owner of a PX-7.

I am playing around, checking out the sounds (fantastic), waiting for
all ROMs to arrive before I open up the box and install them.

I have a question. As I run my finger along the touch strip, nothing
seems to be happening. I do not notice any chance in sound. Do I need
to activate it or something first?

I plan on calling Emu tomorrow, but in the meantime, if someone can
point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Sustain for MK-6

2004-07-20 by John Schmidt

Can anyone tell me how to get sustain on the MK-6 keyboard, MO-Phatt version
of XX7/\

When I plug an unlatched keybaoard (Boss FS-5U) pedal into the foot switch
or foot pedal, I am (so far) unable to activate the sustain function.
Switching the polarity switch does not help.

Do I need a special pedal?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Sustain for MK-6

Does the MIDI In LED blink when you press the pedal?
If not, something's wrong with your keyboard/pedal.
If it does, try different presets to see if any of them sustain (the
organs in MP-7 should).
I had a problem that some presets would sustain, while others won't.
Apparently, you have to set up a patchcord along the lines
of "FootSW1 -> KeySust" for any layer you want to sustain.

Hope this helps,
Boris.

Make sure that the pitchbend amount in the Controllers menu is set to
something other than 0. Should be working by default though, if you're
comfortable with it, just open up the unit and make sure that the
pitchstrip cabel is plugged into the main board fully. If it is and it's
still not working, you may need a new one. These are VERY easy to replace
though. it's just a sticker basically, so if you don't want to part with
your new baby to send it back to Emu, ask them to just send you the strip
and replace it yourself.

Is it possible to replace the touch strip with a common pitchbend wheel? and
if the answer is yes, is the hold function still available?

Song loop?

2004-07-22 by zerocrossing2001

Hey,

Is there anyway to loop an entire song? I couldn't seem to find any way to go back to the
begining of a song without stopping it.

from the manual (version g), p 78:

In Song Mode
Loop Section works a little differently in Song mode
where it simply
specifies alternate start and end points. When the
song reaches the
endpoint, it stops and auto locates to the start
point. In both pattern and
song modes, RTZ still locates to the beginning of the
sequence.

Re: [xl7] Song loop?

2004-07-23 by Aaron Eppolito

Actually, rEalm, you're right (about song mode, not about being a
tard). There is no way to loop song mode. The temporary bar region
thing only stops and automatically returns to zero, it does not loop
like pattern mode. Song mode was hard enough without having to make it
loop seamlessly like pattern mode (where we guarantee ~2ms accuracy on
the loop).
