I wish I'd stfu

I wish I'd stfu

Oops, not funny....
Ok, been working with it a couple weeks now. tomorrow I hope to really STUDY the manual.
Presets: When I'm editing the preset, is there a way to JUST SAVE THE PRESET? It seams when I'm editing a preset and I hit SAVE, it asks to save the PATTERN. But I just want to save the PRESET. Of course, after saving te pattern, it lets me save the preset. Any ideas here?
ARPS: Also having problems getting the arps to work. I have my arp set to :p under the main preset screen then in my preset editor, I turn the ARP on, but when I try to change the pattern it doesn't do anything! I haven't even started to record with it!
More on Presets: Theres a lot of accidental overwritting PRESETS while Im making new tracks. Is there any way to LOCK a preset that you use in one pattern, so you don't accidently tweak it and accidently overwrite a preset from a different song? It would be way cool if there was a "lock all presets" command.

>>>If you press Save while the Preset button is lit up under the display,
it defaults to "Save Preset". If you are in any other screen (except
maybe Preset Edit), it defaults to "Save Pattern". The save menu is just
like the rest of the menus though, you can still scroll to get to the save
screen you want. So if you don't see "Save Preset" when you want to, just
scroll the wheel, find that page an there you go! <<<

ARPS: Also having problems getting the arps to work. I have my arp set
to :p under the main preset screen then in my preset editor, I turn the
ARP on, but when I try to change the pattern it doesn't do anything!

>>>Hmmm, weird! If you've got it as P, then changing the arp Pattern
should be pretty noticeable right away. Are you turning the Arp on in the
Preset Edit screen? <<<

More on Presets: Theres a lot of accidental overwritting PRESETS while Im
making new tracks. Is there any way to LOCK a preset that you use in one
pattern, so you don't accidently tweak it and accidently overwrite a
preset from a different song? It would be way cool if there was a "lock
all presets" command.

>>>Developing good save habits is a MUST when working on any electronic
music, otherwise you run the risk of losing some hard earned work in a
heartbeat. While there is no "lock" feature, here's a couple suggestions:

1. Everytime you modify a Preset and think you're happy with it, save it
right away to a new user location. Don't wait and think you'll do it
later, chances are you'll forget one time and be very upset.
2. Given that we have so much storage built into the XX-7's, I find it
useful to save all of my Presets to new locations for each Pattern. So if
I reuse a Preset from a previous Pattern, one of the first things I do is
rename it and save it to a new User location. While this might seem
excessive, it helps me later on in that I can tweak any Preset on any
track, then save it, and not worry about overwriting something that's
already been optomized for a previous Pattern. It takes more time up
front, but saves me loads of headaches later on when I'm "in the groove"
so to speak and don't want to stop to think about where I'm saving things.
3. Name your presets something useful, and tie them in with your Pattern
too, just in case. Example: If I'm working on Pattern called "The
Floating Sun", I'll name my presets: Float BD, Float Snare, Float Bassline, etc. That
way I know right away which Presets apply to which Pattern in hurry, and I
don't run the risk of accidentally modifying a Preset being used in
another Pattern.
4. Oh yeah, save your patterns often too, and be sure to back up via
E-Loader often, just in case! <<<

A moment of incovenience is better than a lifetime of regret....

ya there is. When you hit save use the big knob to scroll to save
preset.

ummm not quite shur i know what you mean here. It might be that you
are not saving you presets.
