About the clock sync again....

About the clock sync again....

2001-10-01 by garrisonheslin@yahoo.com

The manual says(maybe we're looking in the wrong section?) go to the
Base Tempo menu, scroll the tempo all the way counterclockwise until
you get EXT. We couldn't find a command that said USE MIDI. The thing
is that when we set it to EXT. It didn't sync, AT ALL. We've been
using MIDI for a long time, we have a pretty good idea about how to
get around most machines, this thing has LOTs of menues, and is, so
far, a little confusing. Again, maybe we didn't find the right menu?
Where is the menu your talking about? Are there any other crucial
tips we should know about global settings, WE'll beasically be
slaving this thing from an RS7000, there will be alot of incoming
notes, can you turn off all incoming note data, or do you have to
turnoffeach channel individually? Thanks alot, despite these basic
little headaches, this thing sounds like it will be a Psick!!!
addition to our setup. Peace-Thanks; Buddha Spaceship

G,

You're looking in the right spot. Page 98 in the manual is where I
had you go and it should be syncing to the RS7000 with no problems.
The only other thing I can suggest is to verify that the RS7000 is
sending info. The quickest way to check is to look at the midi led
in the top right corner of the XL-7 to the left of the large knob.
If the midi cables are hooked up correctly, then the led will flash
when the RS7000 is in playback mode.

Good Luck.

It sounds like you've have the Xl-7 set correctly (Controllers, last
menu, move tempo to external). M2's advice was solid to check your MIDI
input activity light to see if the Master is generating clocks. Lastly,
make sure you have OS 1.01 is your Xl-7. OS 1.01 added Song Position
Pointer. This feature is very important when slaving your Xl-7.
