E-loader problem

E-loader problem

2001-09-25 by Mwl007@aol.com

Every time I try and transfer files across the e-loader program I get errors about half way through the transfer. I thought this might be the cables so I replaced all with the best I could buy. Still problems. This sucks. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks!!

Mike

Oh, and while your at it, when I get this working , how do you load entire banks (the ones on the emu site from the xl-1 ) not just indevidual patterns?

Thanks again!

What are the errors reported? What kind of computer, version of OS etc?

Hey Scott! Thanks for the quick reply, but now it seems to be working? I may have been doing something wrong [stupid] . I have another question though, how do I load the banks [xl1] on your website through the e-loader program. I understand how to load a pattern, but what about a bank? Same thing? I just don't want to screw anything up. thanks!!

I presume the Banks you are referring to are the XL-1 Preset banks that
have been converted to use in an XL-7.

E-Loader does not currently support downloading Presets, only Sequences
(Song and Patterns).

In order to get the Presets into your XL-7 you need to download the MIDI
files off the web, open them with your sequencer of choice, and simply
'Play' them into your XL-7 as if they were a song. This will take a
while, so be patient.

Some things to be aware of: your XL-7 must be set to MIDI device ID 0,
which will be the default setting unless you changed it for some reason
(found in the MIDI Menu). If you have more than one Proteus Family
device on your MIDI network, e.g. a P2K, XL-1, MP-7 etc, it may be best
to power all of those OFF before downloading the presets to the XL-7.
Since all Proteus Family devices will accept the Preset download, you
could wind up overwriting presets in other modules unintentionally! You
could set each other device on a MIDI Device ID other than 0, but that
is more complicated and error prone than just shutting them down for the
few minutes while you do the downloads.

And remember, the Preset downloads will *overwrite* your existing User
presets, so anything that you have customized you should save *before*
downloading any new presets.

Enjoy,
Scott

Sorry scott .. you lost me here. Im using sonar , I can record and play back midi from my xl7 , but i do not know how to do what you are talking about when you say"play" them into the xl-7. I open the file and that i just play it? What happens next? I know it's somthing simple, i just don't understand..I feel like an idiot .Thanks!!

That's it! Just play the MIDI file into the XL-7. The MIDI file contains
no notes, so your XL-7 will not make any sound. The file only contains
MIDI System Exclusive data, and that data will get 'squirt' into your
XL-7. Just wait for the sequence to end naturally. The MIDI In LED
should blink feverishly for a while, and then it will all stop.
Magically, you will then have new presets in your XL-7.
