Import midi riff

Import midi riff

I too would love that feature. The BTS are fun and all, but it would be
better if I could program my own breaks and such, and then be able to use
them as Triggers. Not sure, but I bet this is somthing we see from Emu in
some form or another soon.

I do think it would be a lot cooler if you could import your own midi
riff for the audition sequence. What do you guys think?

You made the sugestion of using custom arps on percussion presets to
accomplish this. I have been really happy with this. I played with
BTS mode when it came out and have decided that is is much less
flexible. The only drawback is that it eats a lot of internal
channels. This is not really an issue for me as I am using some
external gear for sounds.
I am also working on using arps from trigger keys to sequence
breakbeats from my sampler at a key press. After splitting the sample
with Recycle you can even rearrange and tempo shift it.
The best part about using arps instead of BTS is that by setting the
sync in the arp section of the patch, the rhythm arp will play in
time and on time even if you press the trigger at an off moment. If
you connect a knob to arp speed you can get roll effects like those
on the mc505, though the beats tend not to come back into time the
way they do on the 505.
