I agree; it is a great thread. Balma definitely knows his patchcords and complex sound design using the P2K synth engine. Lots of other useful info in that thread, too, from contributors.

This point should not be over looked--IIRC, 12th order filters EACH halve polyphony [number of voices used by the "up-to" 128 possible voices].  Also, IIRC--but I will have to check, chorus halves polyphony for EACH layer.  Links also reduce polyphony.

Somewhere I think I posted an explanation of how these kinds of settings can be used to make a single preset that will use up either 64 or 128 voices (thereby giving your E-Mu synth engine one (or two) voice polyphony. 

This is not a bad thing if you want thick/dense and or complex presets.  For example, someone might want to make a preset where one or two notes get triggered and the preset morphs/evolves/mutates though a sonic tapestry over a large period of time--sometimes called a "noodle" in some electronic music groups.

As for mentioning thread, many people (new and older members) don't look through the archives, so JMO but I think its worth throwing up the link again.  :-)
