I have the latest OS and managed to do this by using eloader/laptop/usb midisport/midi lead(s) but I can't load in the factory patterns files from the xl7 and px7 :(
I'd like to know if there are command station users who could help me out?
Ideally, there might be some people nearby who could install them for me?? XMIX would then be amazing!
I have the xk6 rom, pk6 rom mp7 rom and px7 rom inside.

hi steve,
gave it another go tonight and had 90% success loading in the xl7 and px7 patterns. just a pain to change the destination patterns ( eg p.0.001 xxxx to p.4.001 xxx) to keep my original mp7 patterns.
I was also pleased to see the xl7 patterns worked flawlessly with my xk6 rom!!
will download and try the p2500 files now!
thanks for replying.
I also have a yamaha rs7000 and the new electribe if you want any chit chat on these also :-)

It could well be the download/extraction of zip file or I have run out of space?
I'll try again as the p2500 patterns sounded expertly done compared to the other command station patterns.
It was funny how the first pattern failed then the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th were fine. The 6th onwards looked like they were transferring with no failure messages but just weren't registering on my mp7. It could be full memory?
I have
bank 1 000-127 -mp7 patterns
bank 2 000-127 - mp7 untitled sequences and my patterns
bank 3 000-127 xl7 patterns ( 95% of them )
bank 4 000-80 px7 patterns (95% of them )
bank 5 001-005 p2500 patterns ( 5% of them )
bank 6 empty
bank7 empty
There's plenty of patterns for me to play around with now and xmix before further midi remixing on my rs7000 before recording the midi into my new electribe now.
My plan in the future is to buy the new electribe sampler and create some quick ideas/soundsets on the mp7 and sample/sequence into the electribe sampler.
But just in case I can't see the wood for the trees, I'll be happy just to play the mp7 on it's own again ( new found love ) and transfer some of the resulting midi into the 'normal' electribe at a later date.
Thanks for your help, I always felt I could load these in if I could update the OS :-)
I do have one burning question.....
I'm sure I was able to record midi into my old xl7 on more than one channel years ago but now when I record midi from my rs7000 say, if I have quite a few midi channels playing at once into the mp7 it will only record into one channel ( the channel I'm on at the time ).
Can you clarify this for me as I've played around with the rechannelize input settings and no success, is there something I'm not doing with the other settings to make this happen if possible.
I'm starting to think I've messed up my mp7 because I was able to record superbeats out and back into the mp7 for a few days then it didn't like it!?

To answer some of your questions...
No I don't use the usb transfer, just midi in/out from midiman midisport 1x1 on a windows 7 laptop.
I'm leaning towards full memory
I think I'll find an empty pattern and copy/overwrite that to some user patterns I don't like, compact data again and see where it goes from there regarding the p2500 patterns. I'll let you know if this works for future reference
Thanks again Steve.

I believe it works in wine on Linux
After my previous reply, I looked at the PK-6 manual to make sure the ROM ID (MSB) is the same as the P2500. It is (MSB = 17). I didn';t mention that because I thought for sure the P2500 patterns would work with the PK-6 ROM.
As for running out of memory, it is possible that it is filled up with the sequences you have in there. It is kind of misleading to have 7 banks for patterns; people have mentioned before than memory gets used up before maxing out on slots.
Also, memory gets fragmented and sometimes compacts itself. I forget how to tell the percent of memory available.
Does the e-loader console say anything to indicate the transfer(s) failed?
I am not sure if the demo patterns are loaded with controller data, but if so and if memory is the issue, you could try thinning the controller info.
Out of curiosity, are you using the E-mu's midi i/o to transfer patterns? I used to use the E-Mu's usb connection and it was like seven times faster as I recall. I know it worked in Win98SE and I am pretty sure it worked in the original XP. I believe somewhere around SP2 (or maybe SP3) I could no longer get the usb drivers to work.
This has been bugging me for years. I have just set up a Win 98SE tower and recently reverted a 2005 XP back to its original state--then promptly updated it to SP3 while I could. I do have some small drives and could set up a boot drive to see what happens on XP the original. Unfortunately, I don't think I can update to SP2 to see if that's where the problem came it.
If it is a memory full issue, you could try deleting a particularly large pattern to see if you can then transfer some smaller ones.
Maybe others have some more suggestions or can tell you how to get the memory available display. I don9;t recall it being in diagnostics.

Everyone in this group probably knows already, so forgive me for stating the obvious.
I recently bought a E-Mu Virtuoso with a "faulty screen" for super cheap on Ebay. Upon studying the manual, it turns out the screen is not faulty, just that it needed to be adjusted to a proper setting to be viewed from the front (under the master menu). This is the second one I have bought cheap with a "faulty screen" that had no problem at all.
;Just a tip to get a great unit for cheap, usually thru a pawn shop or such, where they think that saying it has been "untested" excuses them for their lack of experience!
Cheers,
Max
