S/PDIF problem

S/PDIF problem

2015-03-17 by brian.grassfield@...

Dear Members,

please check this record: http://www.briangrassfield.com/downloads/spdiferror.wav

this is what comes from my XL-7 S/PDIF out into a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. This audio interface worked fine with my other S/PDIF capable devices, but the XL-7 produced this weird behavior.

Could you help me what can be the problem here?

Thanks!

Hello.
try grounding the ring of your spdif.
This can be done internally on the device as a modification, or externally with alligator clip wire attached to a chassis screw. Try externally first, if this fixes the issue, then do internal mod.
Thanks,
Matt

did you make sure to set your focusrite's clock to "SPDIF" before you began recording?
